Over 500 peaceful protesters (including a New York Times reporter) have just been arrested while trying to cross the Brooklyn Bridge. It appears that the NYPD purposefully guided them into the middle of the roadway, where they were then cut off, surrounded, and detained for "impeding vehicle traffic."

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/1....rooklyn-bridge/

On another note, multiple major workers' unions have now officially endorsed the protests, and offshoots in other major U.S. cities have begun forming. Other than New York, the largest protests are in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.

The total number of protesters is estimated to be anywhere between 5,000 and 10,000 people, and more than 600 people have been arrested since the protests began.

Oh come on, that was a blatantly dirty trick, it can't possibly hold up in court.

It doesn't have to hold up in court to accomplish its purpose.

So, how come there isn't this sort of blatant corruption and abuse when it's teabaggers?

Because teabaggers ARE the system that encourages blatant coirruption and abuse.

Yeah, I know. Truly though, no one better even mutter the words "liberal media" at this point.

Ah, kettling. Brings back memories. It's good to see unions supporting this. It seems that the cops came down heavily in Chicago, harassing and stalking a supporter of the IWW and calling them 'feds' and 'provocateurs'.

That's embarrasing. It took 20 minutes for the NYT to edit a well-written, accurate lede that concicely informed the audience as to the guts of the story to an inaccurate monster that obscures the truth. Bad form, NYT.

To be fair, the original story was written by a single journalist, the altered version credits two.

The original would have been subbed by at least two people.

A Finnish newspaper said that the people were arrested for blocking the bridge. When they were all walking on the sidewalk of the bridge the police left them alone, but after they refused to stay off the car lanes and blocked the road they were arrested.

Of course, the problem is that the police actually forced them onto the car lanes in the first place.

Who cares? The more disruption it causes, the better. It will increase media coverage, the only people really pissed off wouldn't have agreed with the protests in the first place.

Hey, guess who JP Morgan just "donated" 4.6 million dollars to? That's right, the NYPD.
