Shit, I'll join any religion that has battle scenes of Native Americans and Romans.

Dear God, do you have to keep stiring up shit with Sky? It's getting pretty damn old.

Dear God, do you have to keep stiring up shit with Sky? It's getting pretty damn old. It's got nothing to do with Sky at all. It's just us exercising our right to laugh at some pretty funny shit! EDIT: And frankly I'd be delighted if some people brought some of their favourites along for the ride...

Dear God, do you have to keep stiring up shit with Sky? It's getting pretty damn old. I'm actually curious on this point, I mean I understand trying not to intentionally cause waves with Sky, but does that mean that anything to do with Mormonism is now a verboten? Frankly I like the idea of having one thread on Mormonism, and keeping most of the discussion on the religion in one place.

Someone asked me to take a look at this (before you ask, no it was not Skyfire) with a similar question to Paradox's comment. This thread is not considered baiting. It only has to do with Skyfire in that he is of Mormon faith, and the thread discusses Mormonism. No, Sapien, Mormonism is not "verboten" as a topic of discussion. This thread is perfectly legal and will not be locked so long as it remains benign, just like any other thread.
You may consider this an official ruling.
EDIT: On a personal note, I rather enjoy what I have heard of the South Park episode. At some point I will have to watch it myself. You can see all of their episodes on some website or another, right? Not Hulu (though I don't think they're there anyway) but somewhere else.. I forget where Peter told me it is...

Again, I don't think Mormonism is any weirder than any other form of Christianity.

Thank you, MS. There's actually a couple of 'weird religion' episodes I've been meaning to watch... I heard they did one on Scientology too... or was it two episodes on Scientology? Anyway, thanks for the link, and I'll hunt it down when I have the time.
Slightly more on topic:
I used to do D&D every Friday back in High School, and one of our DMs was this guy... I think his name was Daniel. Anyway, he had this girlfriend who was kind of strange. She would only socialize with us before and after game sessions if she socialized at all (and only when all the stuff was put away), she always wore these plain dresses that came down to her ankles, she only let Daniel kiss her on the cheek, hold hands with her, give her hugs, and occasionally put his arm around her if they were sitting on the couch together, and her hair was extremely long. Daniel told us she was Mormon, and that she wasn't allowed to cut her hair or wear pants. He also said she wore a chastity belt. O.o
I honestly did not know they made those anymore other than for fetish stores.
Last I heard, they got married. I swear my first thought was "so did he have to remove the chastity belt himself, or did she do it for him and spare him the embarrassment of having to unlock both it and her bra awkwardly?"

Again, I don't think Mormonism is any weirder than any other form of Christianity. It's not christian and it is weirder, a lot weirder. I used to believe the same thing, but I'm rather inclined to ask - why not? You'll forgive me if my knowledge of Mormon doctrine isn't perfect, but they do believe that Jesus came to Earth to die for our sins and thus bring salvation. This is pretty much the minimum requirement to be a Christian as far as I'm concerned. As far as weirder... again I don't know. I think most mainstream Christians are more apostate and thus don't engage in some of the more bizarre strictures of the religion, but then the girl Lady Renae described doesn't sound unlike a few more conservative xians I've known in my time. Don't get me wrong, Mormon theology and practice is evidently different from the Christianity I was raised in (Lutheranism), but that doesn't make it necessarily unchristian. Catholicism and deliverance pentacostalism (i.e. exorcisms) are also both very different from Lutheranism in many ways. I'd say the criterion to be a Christian is a belief in Christ, and the Mormons seem to fit that.

Dum dum dum dum dum....I love South Park But I agree with Matt & Trey: all religions are goofy as hell. I think it was in "The God Delusion" where Richard Dawkins was saying how absurd it was for one religious person to mock another religious person for believing in "weird" things.
