Okay, so I haven't played my guitar in a couple months because I've been insanely busy, and the strings I have on there now are pretty much dead. The strings I'm currently using are DR's Dimebag Hi-Voltage. I do like them and they work pretty decent for my playing style, but I would like to try something else.
However, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of other brands or anything that I could try? I want something that can give me a good crunchy sound on the rhythms and riffs, but will also give me more of a clean distorted sound when I need it.

To be honest I really don't care what strings I use (as long as its nickel). I found no difference whatsoever. I think the better question is, what kind of music style do you play? Do you detune your guitar, or do you do a lot of bending and hammering? Use heavier gauges if you are the former, looser gauges if you're the latter.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky, D'Addario XL, GHS Boomers....
There's always Rotosound (don't laugh - I still use them on occasion!).

The bigger concern, as Armand said, is what you play. Personally, I would avoid Elixers. The coating on those strings feels horrid for me, and the sound seems kinda muted.

I've used Elixers on my acoustic for years and the strings never felt wrong or muted to me. But maybe if they make electric strings they suck.
As a general comment, my fingers eat strings. Like 2 hours of play time and the strings are rusted. Which is why I use the Elixers.

Well Jack is like the second or third person to suggest the Ernie Ball strings to me, so I might look into those.
And, yeah, I'll probably go for looser gauges then. I use standard tuning, but with a lot of distortion and string bending.

I'm no help here. I use Ernie Balls, have for years, but as I have hands like feet I'm using the Beefy Slinkies, 11-54, in E standard. Apparently, they're mean for downtuning.

I use Ernie Ball 8s and usually standard (concert pitch) tuning - I can still manage the 3rd string 2nd fret bend in the Voodoo Chile riff.

I tried 8's once. Felt like trying to play water. Don't know how you cope with them, man.

I use Ernie Ball on my bass. They give off a crazy awesome twang when I play (finger).

Metal guitar strings make excelent armoured cables for 1:50 scale miniatures.

I just wanna drop by and say I played my friend's Jaguar. He uses 11-gauge strings and so naturally I played a little metal and sludge . AND IT WAS AWESOME.
