Found this amusing. lincoln.craigslist.org/zip/2677368645.htmlI was headed to Pizza Hut on Sargeant Street in Beatrice tonight (Sunday) and I spooked a deer (doe) on the bridge over Indian Creek. It freaked out and jumped over the south side of the bridge and killed itself on the bank below. So I don't know if this meat is any good, but since I don't hunt, I figured it's fresh enough of a kill that it might be food for the right person. Thank goodness I didn't hit it. It's still laying down there as of 9:45p.m.

Indeed. *licks lips hungrily* Y'know, Spamylon, if you keep the cuts in your freezer, you'll still have some to cook up and serve to Santa in another 6 weeks or so.

You know a couple years ago I came upon an interesting thought. It smacks of all kinds of terrible in that you'd be trying to use roadkill to feed a population.

Lol. Well, if it was properly dressed (Google it), then sure, the meat would still be good. In Maryland people who hit deer with their cars can legally take the meat. As much as we all hate to see an animal killed by accident, I think we'd much rather see the victim at least feed a hungry family than rot by the side of the road.
@sfw, actually, when I hunted more, I would end up with a bit more meat than would fit in my freezer. Food banks and soup kitchens were always happy for processed venison. In fact, a couple places would even give me a tax receipt.

I'm surprised the food banks would take venison. I've had food banks turn away loafs of wheat bread.

Poor deer! Still though, if it actually DID just jump accidentally to it's death, I would rather see it feed some people then go to waste.

I get all kinds of good shit from the food banks round here. Right now I've got 2 pounds of ground bison in the freezer and I've had bear meat.
Ironbite-makes a pretty good hamburger bear meat does.
