What?!?! Dammit. I just saw a program a few month ago about how they were trying to save the last ones. Too late I guess. Fuck, I hate humans. Huh. I qualified, “In the wild” because that was the impression from the report in my local newspaper, which I mostly skimmed. But now I see Wikipedia says, “ No animals are known to be held in captivity.” I think some of my confusion arose from the discussion of the western black rhino as a subspecies of black rhino. Anyway, was that program about the Western subspecies, or was it about the Black Rhino in general? Only the Western subspecies is extinct. The South-Central, South-Western, and Eastern are still around, and there are black rhinos in captivity.

Is Care Bear possessed by the spirit of Mabus?
I observe that the pics are squee-inducing, although not all of them exceeded the expression threshold.

I was asking about that Jodie saw about trying to protect rhinos. The show was about Africa's most endangered animals species and conservation efforts to save them. The Western Black Rhinos were mentioned. Can't remember the name of the show off the top of my head, but it was a BBC program.

Yeah, that does make it all the sadder.

You should argue that point with a plethora of philosophers throughout history who beg to differ.

You should argue that point with a plethora of philosophers throughout history who beg to differ. And a similar number who agree.

Of course, you could make the argument that the fact that not all humans suck only damns us as a species more certainly; because there are Gandhis and MLKs and others in the world who actually believe in goodness, peace, and nonviolence, there is absolutely no reason why any human being cannot learn to appreciate those virtues, but because it is obvious that most people in the world, especially those involved in politics or religion, have absolutely no intention of changing their ways for the better, that means that humans as a whole are totally depraved. What do you know, the fundies actually got something right for once.
