Ironbite-thank god it's a cult not a religion though. Nah, it's a religion. More than 1000 (or whatever the arbitrary benchmark is) have put "scientology" as their religion on the census form.

The only difference between a cult and a religion is about a century.

Sometimes I think Scientology is a brilliantly subversive, though villainous, attempt to highlight how completely amoral and intellectually vacuous religion in general is.

I think you are right, seriously Scientology is like the biggest Poe in the universe, the sad thing is, I don't think its members have realized it. Although, can you honestly say you wouldn't be able to see any other religion doing exactly the same thing? They are all messed up.

I hope everyone willingly involved is prosecuted. But they won't be. Scientology has an amazing track record of covering up and/or destorying records of their multiple crimes.

Doesn't the fact that these alleged crimes happened in international waters make prosecution difficult?

Doesn't the fact that these alleged crimes happened in international waters make prosecution difficult? Ship has to make port on occasion. The story even makes reference to Ms Paris leaving, though under escort.

Foot shootings are when the coverup attempts are unsuccessful.

If you have to pay to believe, or to feel you've reached fulfillment, it's not a religion. IMO it's a huge scam.
I don't know how and why so many big-name folks have fallen for it. It seems quite obvious to my peasant eyes.

It seems quite obvious to my peasant eyes. Because the big-name folks pay well so they get special treatment. Normal scientology members have to work for their "treatments" so they're the ones who end up treated like this.
