I originally posted this in another thread, but I decided that it deserved it's own. You're going to love this...TL:DR - The Federal Reserve secretly funneled over 7.7 trillion dollars into the big banks in the form of loans at below-market interest rates. How far below-market, you ask? 0.01% interest. That's practically free money. $7.7 trillion is about half the the United States' entire annual GDP. It is over twice the total yearly budget of the entire US government. It is enough money to give every single human being in the country over $25,600. Let me write out that full number so that it really sinks in. $7,700,000,000,000

Or even a nice, polite "Fuck you" card.

What happened to democracy, again? Its only useful when you're trying to convince people that what is going to happen was chosen with sound reason.

Treason.
Yes, I am calling this treason. Because if stealing half the nation's GDP doesn't constitute waging war on this country, I don't know what does.
President Obama should order the banks to immediately return the money. If they do not comply, he should send in the US Marshals and take it by force. Literally. Hold the bank executives at gunpoint.

Has "treason" become the new "terrorist?"

... No, it hasn't. This is TRUE treason.
This should not have happened, at all!

Then can you please explain how it matches this? Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

You're right, Vene. This does not qualify as treason under the definition of that word.
But I do believe it could qualify as subversion.
From the Mirriam-Webster online dictionary"
1: the act of subverting : the state of being subverted; especially : a systematic attempt to overthrow or undermine a government or political system by persons working secretly from within
Of course, motive and intent would have to be proven for even this to stick.

I could be convinced of subversion. I'm certainly not trying to say they did anything right, I just want words to have meaning.

Has "treason" become the new "terrorist?" Yes it has. NPR had an article on the use of it a few months ago. Politicians like throwing it around so much the word has nearly lost it's meaning.
