I think we've heard this one before.
Goddamn it, I just... this is so... fuck it, I'm done. I can't even find it in myself to be angry about this kind of thing anymore. It's not even surprising at this point.
I wouldn't be surprised if we left Iraq for the sole reason of freeing troops up to hit Iran at some point within the next year.

Considering Al Qaida and the Iranian government absolutely despise each other, I'm just not seeing it.

How many troops do we have left? Do we have enough to carry out yet another war?
Edit: Just read the description to the video. So let me get this straight; the families of the victims filed the case (I call BS, it was more likely the government on "behalf of the families"), the US held a trial without any Iranian representation, and then decided that they were guilty?
You know, the inner conspiracy theorist in me thinks it's strange that this announcement comes soon after Iran captured one of our spy drones in their country. Perhaps they want to start a war as a "preemptive measure?"

Considering Al Qaida and the Iranian government absolutely despise each other, I'm just not seeing it. Given that Iran actually deployed troops into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban, in the years after 2001, I doubt they were in league.

They have had ten years - ten fucking years - to compile a case against their most bitter enemy. I'm sure if a legitimate case could have been made, it would have been made years ago. So I too am calling bullshit. What next, implicating Cuba and Venezuela when the time is right?

Considering Al Qaida and the Iranian government absolutely despise each other, I'm just not seeing it. My first thoughts when reading the thread title. Understanding the Sunni/Shia divide is vital when going forth with whatever foreign policy agenda we decide to construct, and, from what I have seen, we still have a long way to go in that regard.

Of course, some of the comments are stupid, one saying how they hope America gets the shit bombed out of it.
Yeah! How dare America invade countries and kill innocent people. The clear solution here is to bomb the shit out of them which will kill countless of innocent people! That'll make the world better! . . . Wait.
Seriously, it's this same anger driven revenge fantasy that made so many American citizens gung-ho about war 11 years ago. We'll gladly tell you how well that worked out for us.
One comment said "I think 2012 is going to be a very dark year for this planet...." What do you guys think?

Ugh. It was kinda inevitable though. Iran was the first actual islamic country the Americans learned the existance of. Untill 1978, the whole region was just "the holy land". Even when the first waves of anti arab hate were running at fever pitch in 1976, the Americans didnt know there were any countrys involved. They were just told "The arabs are stealing your gas!!! BAWWWW!!! The arabs are trying to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! BAWWWW!!!" The Iranian revolution changed everything. It created countrys for Americans to hate. Iran became the boogieman that haunted the nightmares of a whole generation of children. Those children are all adults now, and they are still afraid of the boogiemen.

Is Russia Today really the most trust-worthy source?

Is Russia Today really the most trust-worthy source? Well Michel Chossudovsky certainly isn't. Once I saw his name linked to this story I started to get doubts. I'm not saying this court judgement didn't actually happen, but I'd pretty much need to have the court itself confirm its existence. So far the closest I've come is the not-very-reputable Daily Caller which if nothing else has some actual detail. Emphasis is mine: dailycaller.com/2011/12/16/federal-judge-iran-shares-responsibility-for-911-terror-attacks/#ixzz1go4kITEsSo until it's actually issued I'm treating this as non-story.

I’m gonna guess that any “materieal support” is the same sort of support OWS gives terrorists.

Is Russia Today really the most trust-worthy source? They seem fairly reliable to me, though the only other place I've found that even discusses Iran is TYT, and they do so rather infrequently. As others have said already, the drone incident is making me nervous, regardless of how this video pans out.
