www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2011/12/16/dr-whos-assistant-amy-pond-exit_n_1152916.htmlWell there goes about 75% of the reason to watch the show. And not just because I want to do deeply immoral things to her, or have her do them to me (whichever she's in to), I personally think her character's been the best companion so far. Whoever replaces her better be pretty fucking spectacular. Because descriptive titles are awesome.

It...happens. Not sure why this is such a bad thing if only you like sexy red heads. Hell, I expected them to be gone by the time next series rolled around.
Ironbite-they've always replaced Companions and it'll keep doing that...that's all.

Just part of the show, really. The Doctor regularly gets a new body and new companions. It's what lets the show actually still be viable, because they can bring in new talent and fresh ideas while still remaining true to the core appeal of the show.

Yeah I know it's always been part of the show, doesn't mean I have to like it. Nobody else is gonna miss the characeter? Really?

I knew about this forever... how is this new now? It was new to me (obviously I knew she'd go sooner or later, but I didn't know they'd announced when). Are you the person in every forum who says "it's cOLD in here!" any time someone else posts about something they already knew?

Tho I do vaguely recall talking about Pond leaving in the IRC. So you'll forgive me if it seems old hat. I myself never found myself attached to Pond, in fact she vaguely annoyed me. Definitely not on par with 10's companions.

Irrational, unfounded acusations are all I have coz I'm too drunk right now to think of anything intellegent to retort with lol.

It's not so much a case of missing her or not so much as it being hard to get upset over something you knew was going to be coming fairly soon.
It'd be a bit like feeling anything other than mild disappointment that the next episode of The Simpsons sucked. You knew it was coming, even if a small part of you wishes it wasn't.

She's only been having cameo appearances for the past season.

I look at her and look at what she did then I look at what Martha and Donna did and I just can't see myself feeling like Pond defined herself as that much of a great companion.

Considering that the Ponds have been on the show longer than any other companion since before at least the 7th Doctor, I'd say that they've had a pretty good run. And besides, they didn't get Mary Sued like Rose did.

Those are fighting words >_>...even if they're probably true. Go back and watch her send off again. It was more elaborate the the 9th Doctor's send off. I didn't like her in the second season already, but that, along with the facts that she had no real character development and that the third season was STILL ABOUT HER, she went from "dislike" to outright "hate" in my book. Not to mention that no other companion since or before her had the Doctor moping about for an entire season because he couldn't travel with them anymore. Yeah, Rose is a Mary Sue and was Russel T. Davies' pet character (he even went so far as to declare that the 9th Doctor was only allowed to be seen traveling with her when the comics team wanted to show the 8th Doctor's regeneration and do an arc dedicated to the 9th.)
