And I still think Obama's our best choice considering the alternatives.

And I still think Obama's our best choice considering the alternatives. Me, too. We'll just have to wait until we get people who run on repealing this. Why does the country suck?

It would be really nice if the Supremes overturned this.

To be honest I thought habeas corpus had been suspended long ago, after 9/11, for terror suspects. Guess I was wrong. But hey, I'm from Northern Ireland, I grew up in a region where the UK government liked to suspend habeas corpus every couple of years. I guess it just feels like standard fair to me.

Well, as long as his administration doesn’t intend to use it. Not like there won’t be any other administrations. Especially come 2017. Or worse: He could always change his mind. Not like the signing statement is binding.

Why did Obama sign the bill if he had such huge problems with it?

Why did Obama sign the bill if he had such huge problems with it? He's the one who actually requested the inclusion of that provision. His problem was that it didn't go far enough in terms of executive power.

.... Me, too. We'll just have to wait until we get people who run on repealing this. Why does the country suck? Thing is I don't think I am alone in thinking we had already voted for people who ran on repealing shit like this. Or at least not on advancing the police state. In 2008. And they won election. Including the Presidency. what happened to that?

If he hadn't signed it with the signing statement, Congress would've overrode his veto and it would've been put in place with no restrictions. At least now it doesn't look like it'll be used just yet against America. But wait till you get another Bush in the White House and then things will hit the fan.
Ironbite-so after Obama leaves basically.

...Or at least I will once I get some money.
