Just for funsies, what programming experience do you have, if any?
I try to learn a new language every year. In chronological order:
1997: VB5 1998: VB6 1999: HTML 1999: JavaScript 1999: VBScript/Classic ASP 2000: PHP 2001: C++* 2001: Java 2002: Perl* 2003: VB.Net 2004: C#** 2006: Python 2007: Delphi 2007: OCaml 2007: F#**
* These are languages I've only dabbled in. ** Languages I'm fluent in and use everyday.
To be learn: Ruby Haskell Common Lisp Erlang.

Java and whatever my calculator uses. It appears to be similar to BASIC, so I could probably use that as well.

My current "Best" language is C++. Then probably Java is second. I'm trying to pick up Python for web scripts and Haskell for a functional language. I'm going to be learning Assembly, Scheme, and C# via the college program I'm in eventually.
Edit: I did learn a /little/ VB back in HS, and I know the basics of bash.

My favorite language is FreePascal, I also know C and C++ fairly well, I am struggling with Java, I also dabbled in Forth, JavaScript*, PHP*, C#*, Bash, and QBasic**. I am learning Assembly right now.
* not voluntarily, stupid college ** not voluntarily, stupid school

I use VB6 and Visual Fortran 6 at work, and PowerBasic at home. I've also used or dabbled with QBasic, HMTL, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, Matlab and briefly Pascal, and run screaming from C a few times.

I'm good with VB6 and HTML, and passable with C++ and Java.

Silly question, but what is the difference between a programming language and a markup language? That's something I've never gotten.

Silly question, but what is the difference between a programming language and a markup language? That's something I've never gotten. Markup language = text-formatting language, or a language used to describe the contents of a document. This includes HTML, LaTex, BBCode, wiki markup, etc. Programming language = languages with control-flow (loops, recursion, if/then, functions, etc) and variables. This includes C#, Python, Erlang, OCaml, and a boatload of others.

I was once proficient with some markups/scripts:
HTML Javascript PHP
As for programming, I learned some rudimentary C/C++
But now that I haven't done any real web work in such a long time, those skills have now faded, and have become extremely rusty with them, and would probably have to relearn it all from scratch again.

HTML, Javascript, Java, a little bit of PHP (pain in the arse) and NWscript (the scripting language the module creator toolkit for neverwinter nights uses)
