That's the great thing about being a liberal: we always win.
That's true. Did you ever see that list of the top conservative songs or something to that effect? If you haven't, check it here:
article.nationalreview.com/?q=NzZkNDU5MmViNzVjNzkzMDE3NzNlN2MyZjRjYTk4YjE=I bring this up because it's like a time capsule, almost. Several of these songs were written by liberals, and others espouse ideas that were "liberal" only 20 r 30 years ago. And the Beatles have two songs on there, because you KNOW they were conservatives.
The only downside is we tend to take a lot of lumps in the skirmishes.
1.) “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” by The Who
Early punk rockers in a way;
definately not conservative.
2.) “Taxman,” by The Beatles
About a specific tax in England at the time. Irrelevant to the American situation nowadays.
3.) “Sympathy for the Devil,” by The Rolling Stones
How about "Sweet Neocon" instead?
4.) “Sweet Home Alabama,” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Well, raise the Confederate Flag then, because I hate that redneck anthem..."Freebird" on the other hand, was actually quite good.
5.) “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” by The Beach Boys
Lame, high-pitched, castrated-sounding vocals. Okay, I'll give 'em that one.
6.) “Gloria,” by U2
See "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" for a dose of reality, Conservatards.
7.) “Revolution,” by The Beatles
Really? Really? They weren't referring to Newt Gingrich's "Republican Revolution" ya know. John Lennon = as liberal as you can get....and their jab at Chairman Mao wasn't necessarily anti-socialist but rather against the dogmatic Communism which just ended in the deaths of millions without any real social progress. Besides, Lennon hung out with Commies and Black Panthers anyway...
8.) “Bodies,” by The Sex Pistols
............The Sex Pistols? The revolutionary punk group which did everything for shock value? (Like claiming to be anarchists and wearing a T-shirt with a swastika on it.) I have "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" and I can tell you that “Bodies" was graphic and only done for
shock value like everything else. You think Johnny Rotten would support a bunch of stuffed-shirt, pro-life Republicunts? Think again.
9.) “Don’t Tread on Me,” by Metallica
They also wrote an anti-death penalty tune called "Ride the Lightning." And your point is?...
11.) “The Trees,” by Rush
Keep 'em.
12.) “Neighborhood Bully,” by Bob Dylan
Yeah that could portray Bush in a favorable light....or not. Actually, a far better choice would be "Masters of War" for Bush, Cheney and Rummy.
Nothing interesting for a while...skipping down...
17.) “Stay Together for the Kids,” by Blink 182
Ah, the same band which created such pro-family value songs such as "Family Reunion" and "Blowjob." Which is fine if you're Ted Haggard (ba-zing!).
18.) “Cult of Personality,” by Living Colour
While this author mentions Mussolini, Stalin, Gandhi and JFK, the largest personality cult in America is probably Reagan. Pot meet kettle.
20.) “Rock the Casbah,” by The Clash
Um...this is about censorship in the Islamic world you know...
Again, nothing for a while.....
29.) “Rime of the Ancient Mariner,” by Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden, which also had a #1 hit amongst evangelicals: "Number of the Beast."
34.) “Godzilla,” by Blue öyster Cult
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!
35.) “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Oh sweet Jesus, CCR? They're as anti-conservative as you can get. Being pessimistic about activism and its results doesn't equate a pro-war attitude and you
fucking know it.
46.) “Wind of Change,” by The Scorpions
Just because the Scorpians celebrated the end of the Cold War doesn't mean they support your sorry asses...
48.) “Why Don’t You Get a Job,” by The Offspring
*Gasp* No, just
no. You
cannot take my favorite fucking band and do....THAT to their songs! For chrissake, they had the anti-war song "Baghdad" and a song called "Kill the President." And "Why Don't You Get a Job" ain't about welfare you fuckwit, it's about a bad relationship! Ugh...
49.) “Abortion,” by Kid Rock
Kid Rock = the reason I'm pro-choice....
