Oh yes, god forbid you actually take responsibility for your own lives.

What the...! I wish sometimes people needed licenses to breed. I wish it wasn't so easy for people to get preggers. Ironbite-like...special chemicals or herbs to get our mojo going...otherwise it's just exercise. Come here you cute little dinosaur, I need some exercise.

"Doesn't matter if we have one or twenty kids. He will provide. I don't worry about the world anymore because it's out of my control. Even conceiving children is out of my control. Thank the Lord I'm not in control of these things. Praise God." "LET THERE BE TRAILER PARKS"

Most of the time I can read RR or some quotes off the front page without being phased. I can laugh, or just shake my head. On rare occasions a quote will irritate or even anger me. But tonight, I cried. Just the sheer fact that people who think like this are out there was enough to hit me just right. This isn't anything new to me, it's just that I've never seen anyone who genuinely feels this way put it so bluntly. I didn't bawl, but a few tears were shed. The ignorance, the irresponsibility, the complete lack of empathy for present and future lives. It's just too heavy. "I guess the bottom line is GOD IS IN CONTROL. There is not one baby that comes into the world that God did not give to us. Whether or not we have the resources is not the point. If we seek God's will for our lives, He will take care of us, PERIOD. Doesn't matter if we have one or twenty kids. He will provide. I don't worry about the world anymore because it's out of my control. Even conceiving children is out of my control. Thank the Lord I'm not in control of these things. Praise God." While going through my FLDS phase (I get fascinated by different religions and cultures and find myself fixating on one and reading everything I can about it) I read one book where they seemed to be fasting every other week, not for any spiritual purpose, because there is no spiritual purpose for any of their practices, but it seemed to be a way to get out of having to feed all those kids every day. The author also wrote that a typical meal for a household of 20 was a bag of rice mixed with a couple of cans of cream of chicken soup. Yup God sure provided for them.

To actually contribute to this conversation (I know, a novel concept for me) people who display this notion of "god will provide" show a remarkable disconnect even by fundie standards. God provides all sorts of unpleasantness to even his most ardently faithful just to see if they can handle it. God is also perfectly happy to use people as a warning to others. It's really not out of the realm of possibility to see that their god might keep foisting kids on anybody arrogant enough to claim that they are being looked after.
