Yep, Maggie and Ronnie put the 'special' in special relationship - presumably her award came on a crest showing a pile of dead miners atop the Belgrano as she runs Arthur Scargill through with a lance. For us dumb Yanks.... huh? Thatcher is quite possibly the most foul-mouthed and hair-brained woman ever to be elected to Parliment. That, and I think she's a Tory.

Thatcher is quite possibly the most foul-mouthed and hair-brained woman ever to be elected to Parliment. That, and I think she's a Tory. That and she's a war criminal. As these people go, there have been fouler-mouthed and dumber MPs of both sexes elected, just not in charge - but to explain for the less UK politics aware - The Belgrano was an Argentinian war ship that the British Navy sank as it was allegedly sailing out of the combat zone. The miners reference is the miners strike of 1984-1985 which represents the last time that organised labour in the Uk really mattered, and was broken with 19th century style tactics by the thatcher government and the police in a 'if we beat the shit out of them at every given opportunity we'll break them' policy in order to kill the nationalised coal industry in one fell swoop. Both sides, the National Miners Union lead by Arthur Scargill and the Government/Police behaved at times like complete scankweasels, but considering MI5 were even used for counter-subversion, and breaking the strike effectivle killed off life in centuries old northern communities, the miners come away with the moral victory: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_miners_strike_(1984–1985)

Does anyone else notice that it hasn't been too long after MILK came out that Harvey finally got his medal? I was thinking the same thing.
