We went to see Jim Carey's 'A Christmas Carol' yesterday. If you go to see this, Do Not take your kids! It is a very dark movie. I've never read the book, so I'm only guessing that they were following it, and I usually like dark movies. However, this entire movie is filled with nightmare fuel (from the Tropes boards), to the point that when the Ghost of Christmas Future shows up, I was like, "So? Big deal, he's a shadow."
I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but the only part I actually enjoyed was the camera flying over the rooftops of London at the beginning. The rest of the time, I sat there thinking, "WTF were they on when they made this?"
We also bought the movie, 'Up,' which we both really enjoyed. Another awesome Pixar movie that was far better than the one we had just seen in the theater.

I'd like to see the new "A Christmas Carol". I've always been really fond of the story, and I have a couple favorite film adaptations. From the ads for this new one, I'm getting mixed feelings. You said it was a dark movie, which if it is, raises my hopes. The story is supposed to be dark. I was worried that this being both animated and featuring Jim Carey would make it too... I don't know what word I'd like to use. Lighthearted?
Now I just need to find someone to see it with.

I just watched "The Box" last Friday. A fantastic movie by the director that did Donnie Darko. Of course, many people are saying it's stupid because it doesn't have a happy ending, and it doesn't follow a standard American movie goer approved formula. It causes you to think, and damn it, you just can't have that can you?
On a side note, I liked this movie enough that I am doing something I do only with movies I really like, I"m going to go see it again at the box office.

I've never been a big fan of Mike Judge's work, I guess. I thought the same for King Of The Hill.

Arceus and the Jewel of Life, the 12th Pokémon Movie. It was on Cartoon Network last night. I enjoyed it. Not the best movie ever, but I enjoyed it.

Harry Brown. Kind of like a British Gran Tourino only with chavs instead of mexicans/blacks/orientals and without the racist protagonist but with a more blood, drugs, forced homosexual acts and swearing.
