Right, because a bunch of duplicate topics a month apart is so much better. If you've got something new to add that's on topic, it's exempt.

Considering the vast majority of necros are for stupid-ass useless drivel, I find the gain to outweigh the harm.

It is, to be honest. That most necros result in a lock is a demonstration of my statement.

The worst is when you necro your thread after its killed by a semi on the highway, only to have it stab your wife and neighbour to death.

Then you try to necro your wife and it's all over.

Right, because a bunch of duplicate topics a month apart is so much better. Ideally: 1. Someone uses the search function. 2. The search actually WORKS. Needless to say, these 2 events rarely align. Honestly? I'd say it is better. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a thread that's been dead for a month or very near death brought back with something as insignificant as "...". At least when posting a new thread, the poster is forced to put SOME thought in the structure of the post, to get the point across. Also, between that occupying their time, and their lack of exposure to something that activates their ADD, they'll be less likely to rapid-fire-necro, and you'll be left with 2 or 3 shitty threads instead of 20 or 30. Like I said, I don't know that necroing causes any direct or indirect harm to a board, but it is really goddamn annoying.

Rule 0 of forums: Do Not Irritate The Moderation Staff Why? Because we mods are able to get creative in interpretation of rules or make up new ones on the spot. Also, if you get on the bad side of all the staff you'll likely get far less leeway. But mostly because it isn't nice to irritate the people who let you play for free.

That's true, but you can actually be more of an ass if you're banned, seeing as you have no reason to try & protect your account.
