The only Viking metal band I have any familiarity with is Manowar. I'm quite a fan, and I haven't found any possible racism in their lyrics. The Norse mythology is just their schtick. I know of a death metal band, Nile, that has an Egyptian schtick.
Oh, there's also the fact that when they decided to record their song "Father" in 16 different languages, one of those languages was Japanese.

@ meshakhad: Manowar isn't Viking metal. Viking metal is generally agreed to be a derivative of either black metal or folk metal. Manowar is just old-school American power metal. Amon Amarth is one of the few bands without black metal or folk metal elements to be called Viking metal (they're really just melodic death metal). Viking metal isn't supposed to be a "schtick", like with Manowar. Viking metal bands are singing about their Nordic/Germanic heritage, which is why xenophobic elements can occasionally enter. Enslaved and Týr are good examples of real Viking metal.

The BNP/NF were happily attempting to recast Dido's "White Flag" (of all the fucking musical wallpaper in all the world) as a White Supremacist/Anti-immigration anthem (Mind you, on their website, they sell a CD of "Great British Anthems" or suchlike, containing such delights as "The Foggy Dew", so actually listening to anything beyond the chorus seems beyond them). That'll be the same Dido who did backing vocals for the avowedly anti-racist band Faithless. The BNP are even dumber than I thought.

Nope. Many of them are essentially retelling old Norse legends and myths, which is really no more racist than telling Aboriginal, African, or any other culture's folklore.
As for racism is Asatru, many of the Canadian groups openly shun racists and, more specifically, neo-nazis. They're just plain sick of being associated with people who use their beliefs as a front for hatred.
The way I personally see it, there's a huge difference between being proud of being white (ie- simply recognizing that yes, white people have done some great things for all of humanity and that we do have a rich heritage) and being a white supremacist (believing that white people are superior to everyone else).
