Damn it. I had a response typed out but it got eaten. Oh well.
The relevant part was that this is something we'll probably have to agree to disagree about. We're using much the same arguments anyway. My point was not that compromise bring about fast change, or the best change, but just lasting change. Sometimes you do have to hold fast, and I think civil liberty issues are the majority of those. Odds are we have similar views on most issues anyway, judging by your political description. Maybe I'm just more patient. Or maybe I'm less decisive. Or both.
I do wonder, though: do you feel like you have a voice in government (generally speaking)? Do you feel like your vote really makes a difference, that it affects anything?
