Somthing about fantasy creatures - the same reason Narnia and LotR tend to get banned in places. But doesn't Narnia have wicked strong Christian messages? I'm going by the movie as I never read the books due to the first movie being such utter shit.

Jesus Allegory Lion says "Yes, this is a VERY Christian themed book."

To be fair, you can totally pick up a "pagan" allegory out of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I wasn't looking for it as a child, but it seemed even more obvious to me than the Jebus allegory. Which probably means Narnia just isn't Cristian enough.

CS Lewis was an Anglican, so he probably wasn't Christian enough for a lot of fundies.

References to beer? Seriously? (I was amused to learn, listening to Radio 4's fascinating "History of the World in 100 Objects", that one of the earliest discovered examples of writing concerns beer, which apparently the ancient Mesopotamians paid their workers with before currency was invented.)

This isn't exactly the same thing, but in order to keep Band Hero an e10 game, they removed the word "Whiskey" from American Pie.

Alcohol just sticks out, for some reason. It's one of the warnings on the back of KH2, & for the longest time, I couldn't figure out where that was. Turns out it's the part where Barbossa drinks while he's a skeleton for shock value.

Of course they were - that S&M scene in the orc tower in the second book convinced me of that.

Plus, Gandalf was played by a male gay in the movie.
Clearly, Tolkien intended him to be gay like Dumbledore.
