If I'm reading Sky properly, he's saying that there are a lot of people in the US who stereotype &, by advertising religious reasons for doing the shit they do, the terrorists give those people ammo, whereas they probably didn't even know what Islam was before that point.
The military is clearly dropping the ball, here. They SHOULD be finding the people who are doing this & giving them Hell. It damages team dynamics & all that.

Quite. No matter how much "ammo" one may have, it's still stupid and wrong to fire it at the wrong people. Particularly when vast swathes of those self-same wrong people are every bit as opposed to the terrorist actions. Even moreso when the link between the wrong people and the deserving targets of ire is "prays on a Friday", "general unfamiliarity with a razor" or "looks a bit dusky".

I guess what I'm asking is for some here (Skyfire, brendanjd, I'm looking at you) to remember that the men and women who make up our military are just that. Men and women. No better, no0 worse than those who don't enlist. That's actually what my entire post was about: people here in the US are seeing all of the stuff done by militant Muslims, associating that with all Muslims, and as a consequence treating anyone who is Muslim like shit. It's turning into a rather unpleasant cycle, one which is going to take time and effort to break. then why didn't Tim McVeigh and the guy who flew the plane into the IRS building put the same kind of stink on all Tea Partiers? I think people in general look for an us/them mentality.

We are always more prepared to see "them" in worse light than "us". That's part of the reason why people so easily demonize all the muslims but this doesn't make Sky's point any less valid.

To be fair, although Sky appears to be making at least a semi-valid point, it's possible that this is the product of sheer coincidence.

A Tea Partier... is a participant in the Tea Party Movement... they've been all over the board lately.

These people.I like the "Government works for itself, not the people" sign. Because fuck the Gettysburg address. (Yes, not binding, but it seems to be the essence of what the Founders intended.) Incidentally, I just realized that the Founders sounds like some alien race from some sci-fi series. Most already have Progenitors, or Creators.

I specifically was thinking of Star Trek when I wrote that (and Star Wars and Halo.) Why I thought the Progenitors were Star Trek too I have no idea.

We can't hate Tim McVeigh and Joseph Stack; they weren't brown! They look like regular, apple-pie-eating, baseball-playing, 'Merkins! They probably kiss their wives goodbye every morning and drive their Fords to a factory downtown, carrying a newspaper and a plastic lunch box! At least, they would if they weren't dead. So, what, they're protesting the health care bill? The fuck do they call themselves "tea partiers" for & how does this apply? Wikipedia is your friend and mine.
