Oh, that one's easy. All those examples are technology, not science. And science, as we all know, is completely divorced from science. Since english is not my first first language, I don't quite get what you mean. Technology, yes, made possible by research that scientists have worked on before, right? And I wouldn't consider medicine as a part of technology. And it that was sarcasm and I didn't get it, I'm just an idiot and no harm done.

His point was that, according to fundies, "science" =/= what 99.9% of the population agrees that science is.

I see I'm rather late to the party, but I'll answer the OP's question anyway.
No, I don't want to believe in the Christian philosophy anymore. The fear of hell was too much for me. It became hard to pray. I thought I was losing my faith, and would become one of those ex-Christians who committed the unforgivable sin of rejecting the Holy Spirit. I thought I was doomed.
I pleaded, begged to keep my belief. In the meantime I came face to face with historical evidence of Jesus having never existed. Before I knew it, I was seeking atheists' arguments out. I was looking for an excuse to break away and be free of this constant fear, of hell and a god who seemed to be giving me the silent treatment due to some interior thought-sin that I constantly asked forgiveness for.
A Christian friend told me that she hopes I reconvert someday. I felt rather strange and a tiny bit sad. I remember when I did fully believe, before I began "falling away." Those were the best months of my life.
Now I see Christianity as a religion that doesn't lure converts with a message of love, but one of fear. And that disappoints me. It was fear that drove me away in the end. I don't regret it a single bit, thankfully.

It's easy to spot miserable people from religious forums that struggle with severe fear and anxiety all the time.

I am of the opinion that even if Yahweh did exist, I still wouldn't worship him because he's an epic prick. I would rather suffer eternally than bend my knee to a tyrant.
I want to believe like I want to slam my nuts in a desk drawer. lol

I'm an atheist and I definitively don't want to believe.

No. I have a hard time believing what i can sense as it is. Why would I waste energy believing or even wanting to believe what I can't sense?
I'm not even an atheist anymore, I'm a theological noncognitivist.

No, I don't want to believe. When I did believe, I was usually confused and a bit scared. Since becoming atheist, I see the world in a different way, a much more appreciative way. I'm happier now.

No I do not want to believe. If there was a Deist god or gods and/or reincarnation and/or higher levels/planes/dimensions of existence that might be interesting, but I wouldn't want the Christian heaven.

Wow this is almost a dead thread... but ill answer anyway:
I actually do believe that God exists very strongly, because that is how i interpret the universe (quantum mechanical weirdness, the elegance of Darwinian evolution, and the infinite beauty of the universe arising from the most simple scientific processes. To me, it suggests a very masterful creator.).
But unlike a fundie, im not arrogant enough to think that i KNOW God exists and that everyone with a different opinion deserves to be tortured for eternity. Thats what irritates me about them.
Whether God exists or not will continue to be a matter of subjective opinion until the day that some credible evidence on the factuality of the matter comes up.

"Almost" nothing, it is dead. It's been over a month since any replies. Read the rules, they're at the top of every forum and have necro policy.
