hi, im speshuled, i grew up in a fundamentalist church and it wasn't until i was 18-ish that i just kind of gave up trying to convince myself of the existence of god. politically i lean left, kinda far too. lately ive noticed how extreme the extremists are getting in america, and it fascinates me. i dont know if im just noticing more, or if they are actually going more and more publicly insane.
im looking forward to joining in some discussion with rational people about the state of affairs in the world. hopefully i can learn something, which is my favorite hobby.

Unless, of course, you have different opinions than the majority of posters and dare to voice them in a non-inflammatory manner, in which case you will be permabanned at will and without any prior warning by any moderator who happens to disagree with you or who does not believe you are voicing your opinions with the exact clarity he demands.
And, believing that a permaban is what it says it is, i.e. *permanent*, you create a second account not to spam the boards, post harrassing messages, or hide under a different identity, but to politely suggest that in the future the board create a more concrete system of discipline, and also to apologize for some things you yourself did wrong and could have done better, you will then be told that your permaban was not actually permanent, but could have been rescinded if only you had PMed or e-mailed a moderator, even though your IP address was blocked so you couldn't even view the site without using a proxy server, and you can't see anyone's profiles (and thus PM them or see their e-mail address) without being logged in, which would have required the creation of an illicit mock account anyway.
You will then be permabanned (for real apparently), unable to participate in FSTDT's fascinating discussions on current political events, its biting social commentary from an atheist/skeptic perspective, or interact with its colorful cast of characters who are certainly engaging, even if they may sometimes take themselves a bit too seriously. :-P
You will then become nothing more than a mere ghost forced to haunt these old boards, comme moi, votre très humble et très obéissant serviteur,

No, but seriously, you never should have been banned in the first place. I liked debating with you.

So do I. *puppy dog face* Being told that my first ban was *permanent* affected my comportment and led me to post under a different name. Had I known that it would be possible to appeal the ban, and the board gave me a legitimate path to do so (again, I can't see anybody's e-mails without being logged in, and the site wouldn't let me log in!), I certainly would have chosen this legitimate path. Had I known that these boards were still active and that people still from time to time check over here, I would have tried posting my message here. And if the ban were for only a week or a month, I still would have objected but I would have just waited for the ban to expire. But I figured the ban was what it said it was, i.e. *permanent* and I was very upset. I had never received a single disciplinary action in the past, so this permaban came as quite a shock. Even though I may have *some* positions (which, do keep in mind, constituted a minority of all the positions discussed on the board) many people vehemently disagreed with, I never personally insulted anyone, swore at anyone, or called anyone any names. And I fully admit that I was very unclear in many of the posts in the thread that got me permabanned, mainly because it was overwhelming to have an entire thread devoted solely to attacking my position (which is fine, it's just that in the future I would try to do it in a more organized manner).
