Does anyone know who the patron saint of surgery and/or surgery patients is? (not necessarily surgeons, unless it's the same one) My wife wants to know and can't find it via her substantial Google-fu.

Probably the well known goddess Brigid whom was later given sainthood during the Catholic conversion of the Irish Celts. Saint Brigid is the Patron Saint of Healers. *edited to remove un-cited info*

Specifically, Infant of Prague for surgery patients, and both St. Cosmos and St. Damian for surgeons.
I was just wondering why the surgeon gets two saints who are at least halfway-competent while the patient just gets a baby, but then I realized that it would be much, much worse if the surgeon fucks up than the patient.
Also, some of the items on the list are interesting. There's a patron saint of homosexuals (St. Sebastian) which I find surprising. He's also the patron saint of "enemies of religion".
And meanwhile, St. Dymphna must be really pissed at the moment, being responsible for Childhood Rape Victims among other things.

Also, I find it hilarious that it'd be St. Sebastian. Guess what my first name is.

So while the patients only get one saint, it is Baby Jesus!
