Bamboo cutting board. Accept no substitutes. Won't dull your knives like glass, won't absorb food smells and moisture like wood, won't put tiny slivers in your food like plastic. Seriously, that crap is even naturally anti-bacterial. I bought a bamboo cutting board two years ago and have never regretted it for a second.

Another thing you can do is pick up a cheap crock-pot. I got a small one for $20.00 at the supermarket a few weeks ago. Then you can make all kinds of good things...

This sounds more difficult than it is. My Teriyaki Sauce recipe:
one 6 oz can of pineapple juice Equal amount of soy sauce 3 tablespoons brown sugar 4 or 5 cloves of garlic, crushed 4 or 5 tablespoons of grated FRESH ginger root A bit of cayenne pepper 3 or 4 ounces of cheap wine
Throw everything into a pot, boil it for a minute or two, let it sit until it cools. Strain it.
You can then soak chicken or thin sliced beef in it overnight, and throw it on your griddle.
If you want to, thicken it with corn starch (mix some with some water first) and stir fry veggies/chicken/beef and put some sauce on it.
And DON'T use "Garlic Powder" or "Ground Ginger"! Baby Jesus cries when you use ground ginger. Use the REAL stuff. You can put ginger root in a plastic bag and freeze it forever...
