Apparently these are a few years old, but I've only recently encountered them. And no, these aren't parodies, they were on the AiG youtube channel.

The second one is okay, if they want to fight prejudice that's fine. But the first one... Have they not been reading the news lately? How many of these gun men have been 'good Christians'?

The second one is okay, if they want to fight prejudice that's fine. And for the most part opposition to prejudice is a major part of what mainstream Christianity teaches. Quite what it has to do with creationism is anybody's guess though.

Crazy I may sound, I hope it stays on.
A commercial that bad isn't going to help AiG with the moderates and the rest. That kind of mentality only works with the and "discovery institute" crowds, and the moderates is where he needs to win (which is to say I think he's not gaining with his desparate looking bid to gain converts). I've heard some of Ken Ham's programs on local Christian radio, and they're pretty much "Look! look! Gaps here! GAPS HERE!"
And yes Ken, let's try to forget about how many more gaps your theology used to occupy when an Ice Age was considered "preposterous" 100 years ago.

Seriously, why is a Creationist group focusing on racism and (I guess) youth violence? Wtf?....

Because lying is A-OK when you're lying for Jesus! Get them converted and worry about the fallout later. Hopefully they'll be too busy praying to notice!

Because both are hot-button issues that sharply divide people of differing opinions. Never mind the "lying for Jesus" part...they're trying to paint evolution as the cause of these evils by implication. Never mind that a LOT of the recent gunmen have been "good Christians" or that the KKK takes a lot of its cues from Old Testament stories forbidding the Jews to mix with their neighbors or that the people opposing the Civil Rights movement did so largely on religious principles.

Oh, of COURSE, because evolution causes racism, school shootings, wars, genocide, rape, slavery, theft, torture, global climate change, economic recession, cavities and bad TV reception...

That kind of mentality only works with the "objective ministries" and "discovery institute" crowds, I don't mean to derail the thread, but Objective Ministries is a parody site.

Never mind that a LOT of the recent gunmen have been "good Christians" or that the KKK takes a lot of its cues from Old Testament stories forbidding the Jews to mix with their neighbors or that the people opposing the Civil Rights movement did so largely on religious principles. Or that the liberals and moderates they're trying to attract aren't going to appreciate having their own philosophy preached at them by people who think they're going to Hell for it. Or that modern genetics (which evolved (heh) as a mechanistic framework for understanding evolution) gives us a more powerful argument against racism than anything in the Bible, least of all Genesis.
