I found Lovecraft to be boring. I have to be in EXACTLY the right mood/environment to read Lovecraft. 20% of the way to snookered, sitting in a chair that is comfortable but not too comfortable, at night, in low light, preferably with a storm brewing. If I can't read it like that, I can't get past page 2.

I didn't say anything. Must have been one of your hallucinations.

Yeah, I'm not going near that one. I'm perfectly content to ignore that mythos; I'm pretty sure I'd go crazy if I started reading Lovecraft. You wouldn't be the first. Though Lovecraft's lesser known stuff is the REALLY freaky stuff, IMHO. The Colour from Space gave me sleepless nights for a week. I had a dream about Shub-niggurath once. That was... yeah. I didn't go back to sleep that morning. Where might I find this "lesser known" stuff?

I used to have a really good one, but I lent it to someone and never got it back (I lose most of my books this way) otherwise I'd be happy to lend it to you. Everyone know's "Call of Cthulu", but he was quite prolific. Some of his stuff about the insectlike aliens is really bloodchilling. The really interesting thing is that all of his stories seem to tie in with each other, some more clearly than others, some merely seem to be heading in the same sort of direction as the rest, without a clear tie in, but very much contributing to the over all universe. Some have hypothesised he was working towards completing an epic storyline that would tie the dozens of different story arcs he had going together in one sort of Grand Unified Mindfuck of Doom, but he died before he had the chance. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is open to debate.

Whether he was going for one big mindfuck or not, he certainly managed to pull one off.
Nobody is EVER the same after Lovecraft.

However a rising fog or snow will work at least as well, if not better, than a brewing storm.

Yes, I already know about that famous woodcut without needing to click the link. *nods* As the tongue-sticking-out smilie indicated, I was making a joke here.

Isn't Wicca a recognized religion? How is this NOT blatant religious discrimination? Don't you know that ONLY CHRISTIANS are persecuted. When they do it, it is called Exorcism. Wiccans and Buddists always have my utmost respect. Thier beliefs are beneficial to mankind, whereas chistianity is beneficial only to the church.

Nobody was ever inspired to help others, or drew comfort from their Christian faith.
