Hi Everyone!
I'm making this thread because I met this cute French girl at my work. We started talking about how boring it was and all that. And we kept talking every now and than when there were no customers. I kept wanting to ask her, but I either kept getting too nervous or she'd go into the back kitchen for something. Well I clocked out and went to my room (Its a cafeteria at the dorm I live in). After cruising the lovely FSTDT threads I finally said "SCREW IT!" and went down stairs. There she was on break. I asked her if she wanted to get dinner, -and she gave me her number. So it looks like we're going out Tuesday after work (it was good timing too because she left after the exchange).
Now some of you know, I have never been on a date before. Do any of you have any advice? Like things NOT to do, or should I try not to worry and just see what happens?

At a public resteraunt? I think I'd get arrested for that.

Screw the restaurant, eat her out instead.

Congrats on the date! Make sure you have super amounts of fun and tell us all about it!
I have no advice to offer, given that I have never been out on a date either.

Assuming the waiter is male, punch him in the face. It shows her that you're dominant and thus a good potential mate.

Are you channeling someone? I think everyone here is channeling Advice Dog, personally.

If That 70's Show has taught me anything, you should do what Hyde told Fez when he needed advice.
Be aloof.

If you're interested, ASK! The worst she can do is say, "no."
As for "first date" etiquette -- be yourself. Be polite, yeah, but be yourself, and be honest with her. Make small talk -- find out her interests. Don't feel like you "have to" be super funny or super serious or like you have to "fake it" in any way.
And I'll repeat what I said in the "Cosmo" thread: Communicate, communicate, communicate!

And I'll repeat what I said in the "Cosmo" thread: Communicate, communicate, communicate! Which is why you two need walkie-talkies.

As in all human relations, the most important thing is sincerity. If you can fake that the rest will be easy.

The best thing is to be yourself. If the two of you click, then great. You can move forward from there. If not, you can respond appropriately. But if you put on a show just for dates, it's really going to interfere with any romantic relationship you try to pursue with her. You can't mask yourself forever.
Other than that, be polite. Hold the door for her, if you get the chance. Tell her she looks pretty. Unless things go horribly wrong, thank her for the evening. Simple things like that are generally appealing on a first date.

If you pretend to be someone else, you won't really know if she likes YOU or not.

Be polite to the staff at the restaurant. If it's gonna be a place where you leave a tip, leave a good one. One of the easiest ways to identify an asshole is how they treat the waiter and what kind of tip they leave.
