Played Warhammer 40K for years now, still have my Dark Angels and Chaos armies [had to sell my Ultramarines, Tyranids, and IG armies to help with tuition many quarters ago] and I still have my Necromunda set with Van Saar and Escher gangs. I also have the old Space Hulk game with both expansions.
As for RPGs, started with the gateway game D&D, but I don't play it much anymore, so I gave most of it away to my roommate. Still have a near complete set of 2nd edition Vampire: The Masquerade and the 1st edition of Dark Ages, and a few Werewolf books. A large collection of the old HERO system [sometimes better known as Champions] and a good amount of books for RIFTS.
In the board game area, I still break out my Hunt for Red October and Red Storm Rising games when me and my roommate want to kill a weekend off and play WWIII.

On the marginally less expensive end, Arkham Horror is a damn good game. If you have enough room on your table it may count, but I've got to play it on the floor without even getting into the expansions(which are also quite cool). What I need to do is get 8 people to play it for once, and just watch the terror go. Aw, hell yeah! It is a damn good game. *high-fives Distind*I hear you about it being a table-hog, though. I have trouble with that, and I don't even have all the expansions for it.

As for my games, I've run games in D&D, Gamma World, Marvel, Star Wars, and a fantasy system I created that was inspired by the T.W.E.R.P.S. rules. I currently play the Legends of Wrestling card and dice game by Filsinger Games, since it can be played solo and with friends.

I've played one D&D campaign. It was with my ex and his group of friends, and they were testing 4th ed (which had just come out) so that's the only edition I've ever played.
I still have my miniature and character sheet. I could revamp it for a diff version if I had anyone in the area to play with.

I play with a tabletop gaming group once or twice a month. Some of my favorite games I've played: Killer Bunnies, Fluxx (specifically Pirate Fluxx and Monty Python Fluxx ;D), Dominion, Merchants and Marauders, Ticket to Ride, Apples to Apples, You've Been Sentenced, Carcassonne, Pirateer, Collosseum, and Pastiche.
I own Pirate Fluxx, Pirateer and Liar's Dice, and also a Cranium-Hoopla that I've never played. Once I move I'll add to my collection and hopefully start a gaming group of my own.

For tabletop RPGs I've seriously played (meaning multiple sessions/adventures in them): Dungeons & Dragons (2nd ed., 3.0, and 3.5), Pathfinder, West End Games' D6 Star Wars, d20 Star Wars, d20 Modern, Alternity (which is actually the forerunner for the d20 system), GURPS (3rd and 4th editions), Buck Rogers High Cliffhangers, Vampire the Masquerade, Big Eyes Small Mouth (original, not d20 version), and Dark Heresy (Warhammer 40K RPG). I've also looked at lots of supplements for them and made all sorts of house rules, either to expand the games beyond their genre, create rules for handling entirely different universes than it was made for (most notably for games in either FF7 or Star Trek), handle a rule in a more intuitive way (at least for me), or to fill gaps in the rules (such as Dark Heresy not having rules for damaging objects). I've also looked at other systems to see if I like how they do things, and for inspiration for rules, items, NPCs, and adventures. For card games I dabbled with Pokémon when it came out, had some fun with Magic, and played a lot of Mechwarrior with my childhood friend. Oh yeah, and also tried playing one of the various Star Wars CCGs that were made, though I don't remember which it was and didn't find it to be that fun. I've also played Warhammer 40K on and off for a decade. I have Tau and Space Marine armies, and have the start of an Ork army, though I still need to assemble most of them and figure out the paint scheme I want to use. For the last few years I've also been slowly working on making my own tabletop RPG system. I've not yet been able to settle on what core mechanic I want to use. There are bits and pieces I keep using, such as a logarithmic size/range table which allows the same combat mechanics to be used by characters and capital ships alike, and for them to be able to interact. I've only played a few encounters and one full adventure with various incarnations of it, so I don't have a beta release or anything for it yet. You! I wanna do more Dark Heresy.

Alright, I'm thinking about where to go with my 40k army to upgrade my 640 point force into a 1000 point force. So far, my idea is:
HQ: Commander Shas'el; Airbursting Fragmentation Projector, Cyclic Ion Blaster, Positional Relay, Hard-Wired Drone Controller Battlesuit Bodyguard; Twin Linked Missile Pod, Targeting Array Gun Drones x2
Troop: Fire Warrior x11; 2 Pulse Carbines Shas'ui; Bonding Knife, Drone Controller Gun Drones x2
Troop: Kroot Carnivores x19 Kroot Shaper; Pulse Rifle
Elite: Stealthsuits x2 Team Leader; Fusion Blaster, Drone Controller Marker Drone
Heavy Support: Hammerhead Gunship; Ion Cannon, Smart Missile System, Seeker Missile x2 (this one I mostly included to fight my buddy's Chaos Defiler, so I might look for an alternative)
Fast Attack: Pathfinders x3 Shas'ui; Drone Controller Shield Drone Devilfish; Seeker Missile x2
Point total: 1000
On another forum, someone suggested to drop the stealth team and reduce the size of the Fire Warrior squad and use the points for a Battlesuit squad.

It doesn't really feel like a Tau army without a squad of XV8s. They're super versatile, and honestly are pretty much the backbone of the Tau kit. I'd probably make getting some your next priority target.
At the very least, don't dare let yourself build up to the standard 1,500 point mark without at least one squad of them.

Well, yeah, but this is just near future plans for 1000 points. At 1500, the Battlesuit Commander and Bodyguard aren't going to cut it.
However, my main priority right now is the Hammerhead Gunship so I have something to fight my friend's Crab of Death (Chaos Defiler).
EDIT: OK, after some more thinking, I may drop the Fire Warriors' Gun Drones and the two with Pulse Carbines, the Stealth Team and the Devilfish's Seeker Missiles in favor of:
Crisis Battlesuit; Twin Linked Fusion Blaster, Targeting Array Crisis Battlesuit; Twin Linked Burst Cannon, Targeting Array Crisis Battlesuit; Twin Linked Plasma Rifle, Drone Controller
This would also reduce the total point value by 2, but 2 points is nothing, really.

Yeah, and the rules for scaling from 1-8 players are reasonably simple. They all make a fair chance you're going to lose horribly, and some of the expansions make it even easier to lose horribly.

I got addicted to Traveler, Paranoia and D&D way back in the eighties. I have a longstanding love of roleplaying games generally. Love Fading Suns, WoD, Deadlands and lots of others. Even love most of the GURPS supplements even though the system drives me nuts.
My favorite D&D setting of all time was Planescape which sadly fell by the wayside. Paranoia is still my favourite RPG, the whole idea of an Orwellian dystopia ruled over by an insanely happy computer just does it for me.

A couple of mates and I are setting up a Fallout RPG over the summer. If that goes well I might join the RPG society at uni next year.
