Ok, I get the point, metal models suck and the disadvantages outweigh the advantages (IE, durability, having weight behind them). Besides, its not like I can weigh a plastic model's base.

I wouldn't say they suck. I just prefer working with plastic. They don't weigh as much to cart around, and are easier to modify. "Having weight behind them" may help metal models stay standing on a table, but when you have 200 of them in your kit, it's not very fun to move.
Used to be, the metal models could hold better fine detail than the plastic ones, which is why common troops were made of plastic and the more decorated units like elites and commanders tended to be metal. But new materials and casting processes have pretty much eliminated the differences, and now plastics may even be better. I don't know if anyone else here managed to pick up a copy of Space Hulk, but the plastic minis in it were incredible.

This is what I accomplished today.

Vene, maybe it's just the picture quality, but are you watering your paints down? I ask because it seems like a lot of the detail is lost, which is a common problem if you apply paint that's too thick.
But again, it could just be picture quality.

And it could easily be picture quality, I have some issues holding the camera still enough to get a really clear shot. I don't know how Oriet gets so much better pictures, probably magic.

Actually, I think the problem may be that you haven't drybrushed them. The details are the exact same color as the surrounding bulk in most areas, and without the highlight of a drybrush they don't really stand out.
I mean, you just can't really see a rivet on a piece of armor without some type of highlighting work.
I like the basic concept, though. The colors work pretty well together.

Yeah, he hasn't drybrushed it. It's only his 26th mini painted so he's still working on basic control of the brush and paint. I'll have to show him how to drybrush and give the appearance of a light source, though I should see if I can scrounge up a spare mini or two for that.

Well, I'm not into tabletop wargaming so I'll just get back to the OP.
I've got a few buddies with whom I play RPGs and occasionally Arkham Horror. We started with the Warhammer Fantasy RPG and nowadays we also play Call of Chtulhu, Stalker and Paranoia XP. I'm the GM in Paranoia and I just love the look on the players' faces when they realize how their characters are hosed this time either by the NPCs or the other PCs.

I just picked up TWERPS; The World's Easiest Roleplaying System. I figured it'd be something different and fun for us to try, especially since it has rules for creating a game in any genre, including sci-fi, fantasy, horror, super heroes, martial arts, pirates, Vikings, etc.

I don't know if anybody plays Exalted or Scion here, but in one game a group of Celestial Exalted have gotten enough successes on a roll to (hopefully) almost annihilate a bunch of Terrestrial Exalted and their army sent to kill them in one go, and in a Scion game I just sicced Tyr, the Norse God of Justice, after Kim Jong-Il and his family.

Ok, so having some more experience in low point Warhammer 40k battles, I've got some thoughts on the armies I've played against.
Tyranids: I've played against them twice and I HATE Tyranids. If they're not assaulting my Fire Warriors and wiping them out with a single Genestealer, they're generating more fucking Gaunts. This is AFTER I won both games against the faction I've played.
Dark Eldar: I think they're not too bad against Tau if you have some railguns, either on a Hammerhead or Broadside due to the fact that they're going to have a few transports, even on low point games. That said, some lucky rolls won me the game I've played against Dark Eldar that wrecked all three transports he brought, even if I did lose all my Fire Warriors due to how fucking fast they are.
Chaos Marines: The only game I've lost so far due to my complete inability to roll ANYTHING (8 shots, 1 hit, twice in a row for example), but I think I could have done a bit better if I tried to be more mobile. I still think I learned more from losing to Chaos Marines than I did from beating Tyranids and Dark Eldar.

...I have never been happier in my life that I was introduced to D&D instead of 40k. Here is my argument. This is more or less canon. (That is to rule34.pheal.net which means the image is likely sexual in nature. Do not click on it at work or by people who don't want you to see naughty things. To those here who do know 40k, I have one word for you, Slaanesh.)

Two of the party members ended up participating the orgy the cultists had going on while the rest attacked the Daemonette they had summoned.
