Loads of threads dedicated to drawing, painting, literary arts etc but so far I haven't seen one for photography. So I made one...obviously. So, share your photogrphy related creations here so I can be reminded that I'm actually not really very good and feel annoyed at how bad I suck at my one and only true hobby l.o.l. Starting off with some of my more interesting ones from a trip to Florence and Pisa last October/November: The building looks wonky because it is. All the buildings in the square in Pisa lean, it's not my shitty skills at fault.

Yay, people joined in. Some nice photos too. Anyway, more from Florence/Pisa: Sometimes people getting in the way of your shot is actually a good thing: Another example of people being in the way being ftw: And another. I have an almost identical photo with nobody in it, and it's just not as good:

Where's that? It looks rather interesting. Nice job on the fireworks too. I spent a guy Fawkes night photographing fireworks. Hours in the cold and all my pictures sucked balls. In my defense, I don't just use photoshop to compensate for a lack of in-camera skill and sub-par equipment. I generally try to create a picture that's more "interesting" than simply what the scene looks like with your eyes. Some people are really against that for some reason. Don't know why, it's not as if painters always paint landscapes 100% exactly how the scene looked when they were there but nobody gives a shit. Many people seem to be of the opinion that using a camera to make a picture means you must treat said picture as if you were doing photo journalism or something. They also tend to be of the opinion it takes no skill to use Photoshop, like they think Photoshop consists of a single button marked "make picture better!" (it does have automated features but in my expereince they tend to ruin your photos not improve them). However I do object to things like magazines' obsession with making every celebrity and model look like a fucking porcelain doll. I also almost always shoot in RAW mode too, so I pretty much HAVE to do some amount of 'shopping as un-'shopped RAWs look like shit because the camera doesn't make automatic adjustments of any kind, unlike when you shoot in JPEG mode. But you get zero compression, which I find rather handy. Plus, I take most of my pictures on trips and holidays with family or friends who aren't photographers, so I often don't have time to dick around I just have to take whatever photos I can get and do what I can with it later.

Heh, I know the type you're talking about. For me, it's just a personal preference to keep as true to the original as I can, though I wouldn't mind learning a few more photoshop techniques for my pictures. Where's that? It looks rather interesting. Nice job on the fireworks too. I spent a guy Fawkes night photographing fireworks. Hours in the cold and all my pictures sucked balls. This was actually taken at the Myriad Botanical Gardens designed by I.M. Pei...before they bulldozed it flat and dug it up to turn it into what I call a giant bowel. Also, I got about two fireworks pictures out of the 30+ I took that night.

Well that sucks, why'd they do that? And look, photos of something other than Italy - animals! All of these were taken from inside a car on the world's shittiest weather day. So I don't think I did too badly considering:

Yep, it's gone now. Here, I took some photos of it a long, long time ago. Way back before I updated by border style. Enjoy the memories of something that was once beautiful. Right behind where I took the first photo was a pond for baby Koi. I suppose that's gone too.

So, as some of the older posters around here might remember, I used to earn my living as a professional photographer. I burnt out about 2 years ago, and hardly even touched my little point-and-shoot. My 11+ years of experience did get me a part time job where they needed somebody who knew a lot about dSLRs though and a month ago I fell in love with a camera again. Its a little D3100 whose name is Clyde and its reawakened my love of photography (which is good, because I promised to shoot my sister-in-law's wedding next month in exchange for shooting mine). The very first photo that I took, that convinced the Lumberjack that yes, I needed the camera: The lumberjack with some kittens:
