Just wondering how many of us here are re-enactors and what periods you do? I'm doing Scottish medieval, 14th and 15th, occassionally do some Jacobite.

When I was a kid, I was in the SCA with my parents. We were a family of medieval arabs. My name was Mustafa. I want to get back into the SCA, but I don't have the spare time for it right now. I even have a persona picked out, a 15th century Scottish lowlander named Duncan Blak.
I'm also studying German medieval sword fighting. I missed class last night though because my cat peed on my equipment bag, and I couldn't go to class smelling of cat piss.

Very cool, Scotsgit. Couple things I'd like the learn more about, if you have any links on the subjects, are fashion and armor in 15th century Scotland.

What in particular? I can probably answer most of it from what I know, if not, I know of people who can.

Just in general, what kinds of clothes did most men and women wear?
And what sorts of armor did the Scots have at their disposal? For example, I know that elsewhere in Europe at that time, plate armor, up to and including head-to-toe suits were being worn, but I don't know if that kind/level of armor was in use in Scotland.

It was in use in Scotland, with those from a richer background being able to afford the better armour (as in getting whole suits made for them) and those less wealth off buying munition armour.
Fashion wise - the same as the continent, in the highlands and isnlands the dress of the leine, brat and tunic are still being worn, although this lessens as the century goes on.

I don't see what relevance just that picture has with the OP:Just wondering how many of us here are re-enactors and what periods you do? I'm doing Scottish medieval, 14th and 15th, occassionally do some Jacobite. If I hadn't just given you a warning for another Necroed post I'd give you one here, but since it was done at the same time I'm gonna just lump it in as part of the same warning.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE DATE THE LAST POST WAS MADE![/color]

I see a picture of a person in armour alongside a woman in period clothing, with similarly bedecked people in the background. Are they shooting a movie, at a renaissance festival, or actually re-enactors? Is that you in the picture, or just some random people? I see nothing describing any of that, simply a wonderment on how you missed the thread and then some picture that has absolutely no explanation given along with it.
I could just assume it's you in the armour there, but the thread is still 63 days from the last post, which is above the cutoff for if it counts as a Necro, and without anything more than some apparently random picture I can't consider it to be a crucial or otherwise important update.
Now, if you can prove that you've talked to another Mod about the possible greyness in rules over this and they gave you the go ahead I'll retract my position, but unless you can do that it still stands.
[Edited to correct the number of days between posts; somehow missed 30 of them when I went to write it down.]

[Edited to correct the number of days between posts; somehow missed 30 of them when I went to write it down.] Its me in the armour. It is my attempt at a non-verbal "yes" to the question asked in the OP. Also a non-verbal answer to the bit about periods.

The problem with non-verbal answers is that they are far more likely to be misunderstood in most situations, especially when compared to a simple textual/verbal response to a simple question.

And I don't mind it being bumped back up.
