I don't know how many people here have been paying any attention whatsoever to Google's foray into social networking, but Google+ is now available to the general public without invites. Seeing as it's still in it's beta mode, I must say that there are quite a few things that could use improvement. One of the more prominent, I think, is that it seems to sort posts by when you find people you know, instead of by when something was posted; I'm seeing posts from last July ahead of things I commented on this afternoon. Otherwise, its format is practically identical to Facebook, especially since FB changed itself last night (coincidence, I'm sure).
If anyone's planning on using G+, feel free to PM me and I'll show you how to get in touch over there. I get the feeling that what little online privacy I enjoy is going to evaporate once thing takes off (which may not necessarily be a bad thing), so it probably doesn't hurt to jump the gun in this case.

Once Facebook dies than my social networking days will be over. Just figured I'd mention that.

I didn't even wait for Facebook to die. I just went ahead and killed mine.
ETA: I never had a MySpace, and I only actually logged in to Facebook during a 4- or 5-month interval in 2007. 99% of what went on in my friendslist honestly did not interest me in the slightest. That and I was getting invites from people I'd never heard of, or from folks I hadn't seen since 2nd grade.

Never signed up with myspace, facebook or any of the others. See no reason why G+ should change this.

I just don't see there being a need, desire, or room for TWO completely separate, all-encompassing social networking sites online at this point in time. Who has time to keep up with more than one damn SN site? How irritating to be on one when all of your contacts are using the other? G+ is a ghost town for a reason: no one has the time or strength to do all that shit twice, especially when the second time will be seen by approximately -3 people.
Myspace may be the VHS of social networking sites, but G+ is the Betamax.

Myspace may be the VHS of social networking sites, but G+ is the Betamax. I disagree there. As has happened already to Myspace, social networking sites rise and fall really bloody quickly. Given the fact that Facebook has both been insanely popular for around three-four years and the bloated interface and privacy issues, I'd say it's got around one more year to live, if that. It would seem G+ is perfectly positioned to fill the imminent vacuum and not entirely by accident either. There's a very good reason why Google is so massive.

I take these things slowly. I didn't get on Facebook until MySpace was a dried out husk. I just started using Twitter a few months ago. I don't see myself getting on G+ any time in the near future.
