I'm not big on celebrating a person's death, even if they are utter scum, but I can guarantee that I won't shed any tears or lose any sleep when this bastard kicks the bucket -- and I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't a part of me which perked up when I saw the thread title.

Parole hearings? This assmunch had parole hearings? IIRC, in Canada everyone is entitled to parole hearings every so often under something called a "Faint Hope" clause intended to provide an incentive for good behavior to inmates serving life sentences. In the case of murderers and rapists, it's absolutely nothing but ceremonious. This fucker had a 0% chance of ever seeing the light of day as a free man.

I like this part. A parent of one of the victims said this:
This is in sharp contrast to the United States, where the crowd at the Republican debate cheered Rick Perry after he was asked a question about the fact that he had overseen more executions than any other modern governor.

Pardon, not parole. I can't recall all of the specifics, but everyone has the right to apply for a pardon X number of years after their conviction. Along with encouraging good behavior, it's also supposed to screen for false convictions & unjust sentences, and give reformed, non-violent offenders a clean slate, rather than punishing them for the rest of their lives over a stupid decision made in their youth.

The thing that ticks me off the most about this guy is how he was taunting the families with letters and (I think) PHONE calls while he was in prison, apparently MOCKING them with details about their child's death. How the fuck he was allowed to get away with that, I don't know. After the first letter, he should have had that priviledge taken away. IMHO, if you rape and murder innocent children, you should be dead to rights.
Yeah, sometimes the Canadian justice system ticks me off...
