I bet there's someone who occasionally goes to the address for the Yahweh-days forums and composes posts like this in their head.

^^ New boards are here: forums.fstdt.net/Unless, of course, you have different opinions than the majority of posters and dare to voice them in a non-inflammatory manner, in which case you will be permabanned at will and without any prior warning by any moderator who happens to disagree with you or who does not believe you are voicing your opinions with the exact clarity he demands. And, believing that a permaban is what it says it is, i.e. *permanent*, you create a second account not to spam the boards, post harrassing messages, or hide under a different identity, but to politely suggest that in the future the board create a more concrete system of discipline, and also to apologize for some things you yourself did wrong and could have done better, you will then be told that your permaban was not actually permanent, but could have been rescinded if only you had PMed or e-mailed a moderator, even though your IP address was blocked so you couldn't even view the site without using a proxy server, and you can't see anyone's profiles (and thus PM them or see their e-mail address) without being logged in, which would have required the creation of an illicit mock account anyway. You will then be permabanned (for real apparently), unable to participate in FSTDT's fascinating discussions on current political events, its biting social commentary from an atheist/skeptic perspective, or interact with its colorful cast of characters who are certainly engaging, even if they may sometimes take themselves a bit too seriously. :-P You will then become nothing more than a mere ghost forced to haunt these old boards, comme moi, votre très humble et très obéissant serviteur, --- le fantôme de cestlefun17 J'ACCUSE ! No, but seriously, you never should have been banned in the first place. I liked debating with you.

Every time I go to bed early instead of dicking around on the forums until 2AM, something big always happens. Yay for new forums!

My dad's normally not fundie about most things, but his views on atheism are a tad messed up. I've heard this gem from him a few times:
"Atheists believe they're smart because they're atheists, and atheists because they're smart."
And in response to my god father and I discussing our respective views on religion (he's Anglican like my dad, but very laid back about it) in a perfectly amicable conversation:
"Okay, you realize that this is your GOD father, right?"

Having to go back to work after a sleep-pattern destroying vacation. So freaking tired.

^^ Calgary has been having an unusually mild winter as well. They're predicting a high of +14 tomorrow, which will break the previous record for the date (not sure if we're expecting a chinook or not, but either way, it's still ridiculously high for this time of year), and we're supposed to get up to +8 today. We also didn't get any snow until a month or so after we'd normally see it.

Now I'm picturing Sleepy giving a thumbs up as she sinks into a pit of molten steel.

Three days into the 2012, and people are already whining about having a bad year.

Was never a fundie, but I was raised Christian (Anglican). Like you, I found that actually studying the bible was a major factor in shrugging off those beliefs, although I started having doubts long before that.
We've got a few ex-fundamentalists kicking around these parts. It's always quite interesting -- and encouraging -- to hear about how someone's mindset can change so drastically for the better.

So, I'm lying in bed eating cheese and crackers, sipping sparkling wine and watching a movie that I've been waiting forever to see, with two cats curled up on either side of me. Life is good.

Somewhere in the average range? Clothing size really isn't a good way of determining if someone is overweight, unless they're wear, like, size 20 or something. A size 12 seems pretty typical for someone who's 5'11", however, and it's not within the plus size range (which is usually anything over 14).
This is, of course, based on Canadian sizes, which I imagine are similar to American ones.

It annoys the hell out of me when deniers treat natural and human-influenced climate change as being mutually exclusive.
