So... I was looking at the stylesheet FSTDTmp.css and cross-referencing it with the source of generic FSTDT pages as well as the old style... I liked the motif of the old FSTDT, and the new one's not bad: it has a frugal simplicity to it. And yet, I can't help but think that we could be quite a bit more stylish than we are right now. Perhaps a makeover of some sort is in order?

I'd say that all of the above are valid media for what is desired here.
On the other hand, I can understand the practical difficulties involved in verifying a photo. However, I think that visual media are submitted too rarely for verification to be a difficult task. Perhaps one could require that certain additional information be given for different media.
I think that the most flexible option in quote submission addressing these problems is to have a dynamic form which varies from medium to medium in the information required for a submission. The caveat to such a solution would be its complexity.

I don't think any science has been done to prove any sort of speculation correct or incorrect. The article is very casual, there hasn't been any systematised attempt to acquire information about this particular chimpanzee. In my opinion, that should be the next step. Find a PhD student or a postgrad and have them get to work! I agree with this. This phenomenon requires further study before reliable conclusions can be drawn.

Would it be possible to send this thread into a rubbish board, where troll-baiting properly belongs? Not that this thread is rubbish, it's just that it's getting into that cycle again.

Seriously, we should have a generalised gender disclosure option with the usual ( (cis-/trans-)(man/woman) gq/other) options. And to the op topic, only Neil Patrick Harris (gender I +) and Alyssa Milano (gender I -) work. The rest are just complete DNW material. Well, most people have their gender displayed by their posts. It's binary, but it's easy to tell who most people are. I don't, but that's mostly because I'm not 100% comfortable presenting as either male or female right now. I suppose. Really, the only reason to display one's gender is to give some sort of characterisation of oneself. But since that can be done with a picture, there is not so much reason to give it. I myself don't really have a reason to withold it. Still, it would be cool to have the option of selecting "not 100% comfortable presenting as either male or female" as a gender on a forum, no? Did I mention that Neil Patrick Harris is one of my rare celebrity crushes? Yes, I believe I did (not-so-subtle detour back to topic, lol).
