There's a fantastic joke in all this about DeLoreans, the Conservative Party and wanting to travel back to 1985, but fitting all that satirical detail into it seems to be beyond me.

Obama and Democrats Weak on Law Enforcement
Republican Party makes a surprise announcement, changes its platform to fully and unequivocably embrace Marxist-Leninism.

Are we buying used food as well? Why else is Congress currently proposing the Barf Tax? Also, I'm not getting why three sets of 9% are chosen, given that the only connection I can make with 999 is the number for emergency services (and not even in America).

These are some in Georgia: ... No one may carry an ice cream cone in their back pocket if it is Sunday. Do people do that, exactly? Surely you'd just eat it. Truly raises the question of how these laws come about. If you want to read your favorite book in public to your friends, do it before 2:45 AM. I'm not seeing anything there about blasting an audiobook through a huge PA system just outside the state line. Though being forced to close your business is bad enough, Athens-Clarke County forces one to obtain a license before holding a Going-Out-Of-Business sale. It is illegal to sell two beers are once for a single price. For example, a bar can’t run a 2 Bud Lights for $5 special. Y'see, this is the sort of thing where deregulation comes in handy. Not for dumping in rivers or blithely permitting Wall Street's bullshit. Persons under the age of 16 may not play pinball after 11:00 PM. To be fair, this provides for nearly four hours of reading time.

Aaand... this is the thread that has finally prompted me to reading Atlas Shrugged. Thus far, it's straw-manning the hell out of socialism, while portraying industrialists as these uber geniuses who are literally the only people in the world who can get shit done. I went the short route and skim-read the Wikiquote page. To be fair, the Wikiquote page is kinda skewed towards stuff actually worth quoting, instead of, say, basic exposition, but even so, I'm guessing that this is not a novel that has much, if any, small talk. In fact, it's probably all, erm, big talk.

ETA: Here's a pic of a police meeting that either took or is taking place outside the police department. Not sure what's going on yet, but if it's related to the riot gear reports, things could get ugly.

Kid looks like a smartass little shit, too. Well done on implicitly spotting a Margaret Thatcher quote. Also, surely someone's posted this, haven't they? ...although I'll probably find out that it's Photoshop or something.

That'd be a very short list. Hence the hypocritical humour. Anyway: No level 0s, ironically. Level 1: Ghost in the ShellLoved Stand Alone Complex, never quite liked 2nd Gig as much, and can barely remember Solid State Society, apart from the way there's a guy who looks like Nick Griffin in it. Neon Genesis EvangelionLiked it, but couldn't help but feel that the ending didn't live up to the setup. It made me think, but the main thought was "is that it? Really?". Level 2: FLCLFreakin' brilliant. That is all. "...if that thing hits, do you think we'll have school tomorrow?"

Level 6 is redundant since the only way I'd find it would be either extreme luck, or mega-awesome sleuthing skills. Level 2 guy hypocritically castigates your lack of commitment. Mainly in order to have something to post, to be honest.

Maybe the Scandinavian states could go communist. Should we go back to calling it the Franko-British Commonwealth (FBC)? The French-Anglo Republic Treaty State. Naming issue sorted, once and for all.
