That was a nice little shock, I've fired off an email yahweh's way attempting to get a stay of execution or at least a domain transfer, or even a different message than 'site's dead now, bye'.
I'll fire up my backup utility and do some heavy checking of my database shit, and try to get us up and running at least main paged tonight.
Sorry guys, but I had no fucking warning.

wow, I wonder what happened? I'm sorry for all the extra work you have now, Distind. I'm really digitally-illiterate or I'd volunteer to help; is there anything non-tech that I can do to help?
and should I sign up for this forum or wait and see what happens with fstdt.net?

Feel free to sign up here, I'll be expanding this as I go. Right now my concern is to snag the database as A) it's frozen where it is anyway, and B) at least it didn't go offline completely on us.
This is gonna take me a few hours, so odds are I'm offline till then. But once it's done, I'll do what I can to get the main page up, then I'll bring these forums up to snuff.

Well done on reacting so quickly and efficiently.

Now, isn't this serious business.
I dunno what I can do to help, but for the mean time, I'll continue helping to test the new forums. Don't rush things and just make sure everything is working as it should be, even if it takes a little bit of time.
But yeah, it could have been worse. The whole place could have gone completely offline. At least there's still a chance to salvage things.

Ho-boy... excellent work on the reaction time. Wish there was something I could do from this end, but I'm as technically minded as a stunned sea cucumber and too far away to do anything physical. *hands Distind a cookie and coffee* You're gonna need them I think.

*more e-cookies* Just a couple weeks ago, my laptop died on me. The reaction to seeing this today was similar as to that...like a punch in the gut. good luck

Oh, also, for the mean time, there's also an IRC channel. It is hosted on irc.austnet.org as #fstdt, alongside these forums, if anyone cares.

Well, shitfire. Good luck with everything, Distind. Are you planning on making any upgrades on the new site or are you just going to copy-paste everything over? It'd be nice to see FSTDT be a little more Web 2.0 but I know that that would be a huge undertaking. Let us know if you need any help.

Web 2.0 is bollocks anyway, all that matters is that it doesn't destroy your eyes Just don't expect any 'miracles' to be performed. Enough shit is going down to just warrant getting things up and running again before going for all the bells and whistles. For that, more than just a couple of days will be required.

I agree, web 2.0 sucks and Distind is doing his best so don't expect him to pull a rabbit outta his ass. Functionality first, Stability second and looks last

Functionality first, Stability second and looks last I have a friend who may be able to manage the rabbit trick at any given moment, but right now I'm snagging the data and doing a dead sprint to get the data manipulated as I need and get the main page back up. The forums need another week or two of testing, the main page is simple shit. Though if you have any suggestions on formating, now's a great time to take shots. Everything I have mods quickly and easily, the 'fixed' list on the test forums is a good testimate to that, only the 'to do list' has been a wonderful testimate to why you should document your shit rather than trying to throw everything together.

Wow. What happened was incredibly uncool. And honestly, I wouldn't have thought that Yahweh would do something like that. I know, I know, insert bad fundy joke here: ________. But seriously. Why?

Wow. What happened was incredibly uncool. And honestly, I wouldn't have thought that Yahweh would do something like that. I know, I know, insert bad fundy joke here: ________. But seriously. Why? Sometimes, people just burn out. No motivation to continue, etc. Whilst what is confusing is the fact that despite there being people willing to keep the place going, Yahweh still decided just to pull the plug without giving people a chance to get things going themselves. It isn't like no one visits FSTDT, nor is the community dying. That's what I find strange... I can understand the motivation to give it up, but I don't understand the actions taken.

Oh, good, FSTDT isn't being dead. I was rather worried there for a bit. Haven't been as active as I used to be, but I do enjoy reading the archive.
