They're not bogans in Bateman's bay, they're booners or westies.

My mom had little problem with the idea of me dating a 25-year-old when I was 16.
Granted, she said that if we dated, it'd have to be a courtship type thing where she and my dad accompanied us, plus we never actually dated, but eh.
Also why did she open the car door on a highway? Was she leaning against it and the car door shutting mechanism thingy came loose?

Why the hell would you jump out of a moving car?

The opening the car door is sort of secondary to my point.
I don't think that falling out of the car was directly related to the age difference. However... this is yet one more example of generic "bad things happening" when markedly older people get in relationships with the very young.
Anyone else remember the Steven Tyler thread?

Who gets into an argument and then opens the car door when it's travelling on a highway? This isn't a story of something unusual. Just stupidity. This. So much this. Also, seconding the question of how the FUCK a 36 y/o and a 17 y/o even met in the first place, much less decided they had enough in common to start a RELATIONSHIP.

I know I'm gonna sound callous for this, but the girl deserved what she got. Does the Darwin Award give honorable mentions for those who, while not getting killed, severely injure themselves by their own stupidity? Because the girl is in the running for it now. Only if it renders them infertile, otherwise no. Though I too have no sympathy whatsoever for the idiot. Darwin awards are given to people who loose the ability to reproduce and do not have any genetic children. Thus being rendered infertile through your stupidity but remain alive, you are still a contender for an actual Darwin award. Honorable mentions go to people who through their own stupidity get pretty close to winning a Darwin award, but fail to take that final step (IE survive and remain fertile) There are a few exceptions though, people who are not adults are considered illegible for a Darwin award because they supposedly don't know better. This girl was 17 so she might not qualify, but I am pretty sure most 9 year old know not to open the door of a car while its moving, so I vote for her qualifying for a honorable mention.

One wants someone with money to buy them shit, the other wants to fuck someone whose tits have yet to go south. Simple really.

I see nothing wrong morally with a 17-year-old and a 36-year-old dating. Would it be wrong if she was 18? It might possibly be illegal, depending on what state they're in, but legally wrong =/= morally wrong.
And why is it so weird to people that they met and have stuff in common? When I was 17 I was strongly put off by the immaturity in my own age group, for instance.

I'd be just as hesitant about an 18 year old dating a 37 year old. Despite our cultural insistence otherwise, age does not magically confer wisdom. Happy to go on record as saying anyone with "teen" in their age is lucky being trusted with sharp implements, frankly. Most people in their 20s, too. I.e. easy prey for those who would manipulate and take advantage. I don't thinkl, in most cases, that in examples of such age difference, there is anything resembling INFORMED adult consent.

Well welcome to life, eh. This is part of it. It's called learning, something not too many people seem to do
