Oh, that'd be awesome. I'd love to see the Northern Lights sometime...

Well, next time the sun ejects a bunch of energy particles you should look up.

Considering this was the Bible Belt, I wonder if anyone tried to claim it was a sign.
At the very least, I expect at least one fundie pastor to claim that "See? This means that God loves the South! YEEHAW!"

The southern US isn't the only place where one might see a pretty light show due to cosmic activity, it just happened to be the lucky receiver of the sun's moneyshot this time around. Perhaps next time around, it'll hit where ever you live. The northern lights are sometimes visible up where I live, but they're never anywhere near as intense as the ones described in the article.

Well, Cagnazzo seems to think I do, so there. Well, if you read the post closely, you'll also see that I seem to think that "energy particles" exist, so that's hardly the only problem with it!

Photons don't exist?

Photons aren't "energy particles," at least any more than electrons would be, and calling electrons that would be ridiculous.

I don't see how there's anything wrong with explaining photons as "energy particles." They are particles. They carry light energy. At least as far as describing the phenomenon in general terms goes, how is that "ridiculous"?

Because photons are both a particle and a wave.
