My understanding is the wait is mainly for the fact you received an injection, and not for the vaccine itself. I, for one, used to have a severe phobia of needles, and once fainted a few minutes after having blood taken. It was a good thing I was sitting down for that, rather than collapsing in the parking lot, or worse, while driving (I had no idea I was going to faint until it actually happened). It actually can be due to the vaccine.

the HPV vaccine is safe enough for Rick Perry to mandate, but only because a big company that funds his campaigns makes the vaccine.
Unsafe enough for Michelle Bachmann to criticize him for it.

As a teenager who will probably (hopefully) be sexually active eventually, I want to get the HPV vaccine. But my parents think that the HPV vaccine is a fucking conspiracy by pharmaceutical companies and the government. My mom has already stated that if I get the HPV vaccine myself as an adult, she will be "extremely disappointed" in me. Which is screwed up, because the second I turn 18 I'm not even under her jurisdiction anymore. If I want an HPV vaccine, I will get a goddamn HPV vaccine.

Wykked, I never would have guessed that you're still in high school. I've always assumed that you were mid-to-late 20s.

*than, then changes the meaning a lot (than is what you use when it is a case of "instead of," then is when it refers to the passage of time)

I thought she was using the temporal version and not the comparative one.
ETA: Oh, now I see, we're looking at two different "then's."
