Well I know that. I just remember it being an amazing show that I adored and don't remember it being as stupid.

Aaaah...the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia and all that?

That's what's so great about it, their stupidity. The fact that they idolize such idiotic things and still fail at those is what makes the show so damn funny.

I thought it was pretty good. There were a couple videos and a couple shows. The videos/shows commentary was funny, but that is going to be very hit or miss. Time will tell on that one. The "storyline", meh. About as good as the old episodes. Of course, something tells me I should call my dealer and see the show as it was meant to be seen; the same state of mind one would want when watching Cheech and Chong.
But, right now, it seems that MTV is trying to be relevant again. I wish them luck, and this is a good first step. However, that's all this is. I think Lewis Black put it best. MTV is to music as KFC is to chicken.

Empty V.
I watched the first episode and loved it. I've always been a fan of meta-viewing shows (a la Mystery Science Theater). Now only if Comedy Central would bring back MST3k!

Yeah, MST3K was first on some Minnesota public access channel. Then the fledgling Comedy Channel picked it up. Later the Comedy Channel and Laugh merged to make Comedy Central and they carried it for most of the 90s until Scifi picked it up.

MST3K started out on KTMA, if I remember correctly. ...Yeah, I'm a bit of a MST3K fan, lol.

All of the above is true. Just confirming.
It basically went: *KTMA proto-season *Comedy Central: Seasons 1-7 *Sci-Fi Channel: Season 8-10
The KTMA stuff has never found its way to DVD. Which is probably for the best.

Yeah...Erhardt was rather annoying. His voice grated against my ears like nails across a friggin chalkboard.

Just watched a few of the new episodes. Much funnier than I expected, at least when it came to the video commentary.
As I recall, the KTMA season of MST3K was all ad lib'd, whereas latter seasons were scripted, hence the difference in quality.
