First of all, I can't say I'm completely surprised that no charges were laid.

When it comes to situations like this girls, I cannot say that I would necessarily expect them to bring up charges within five years. The Texas statute of limitations is too damn low.

Nevermind the possibility of those other assault charges with the longer statute pointed out earlier in this thread.

With respect to federal charges, no surprise there. Federal law does not normally get into issues of law like this.

To the DA's credit:

"I would expect that yeah, charges would have been pursued but for the inability to proceed due to the statute of limitations," Flanigan said Friday. "You know, whether that would have been a felony or a misdemeanor charge I can't say but I think there would've been some action pursued."

I'll say that again... The state would have brought charges, except the statute of limitations has run. Since this would be a misdemeanor (assault), statute of limitations was 2 years.

It only moves up to felony if:

1) the judge had previously been convicted of domestic violence,
2) he had choked his daughter or covered her throat,
3) he had used a deadly weapon, or
4) he caused a serious bodily injury (and bruises don't count).

Yes, she is a spoiled brat. Everyone see the latest news? He cut her cash off and took away her Mercedes (?) just 2 days before she posted the video.

This girl is a manipulative brat. She obviously was a habitually misbehaving child and set that camera up and proceeded to "push" her father's buttons. Now she is 23 years old and is still living off her father. Out of spite for his cutting back on financial support and the taking back of an automobile she has decided to go public the video to get her father some "help". Give me a break, this girl is a manipulative brat that needs to grow up. This man is not going to get father of the year and is a total ass, but so is his daughter.

This is why your kids are so dang bad and why the world is in the situation that it is in.
You better beat ya kids because if they disrespect the wrong person their lives may be in jeopardy and you will later wish you whipped them and teached them the lessons that you were supposed to teach them.

For instance if you don't teach your kids to respect life and others in the home and they leave without getting the message, they will get the message when they carry that same behavior in society.
They will end up dead or in jail or even handicapped for their actions when you could have nipped it in the bud by whipping the child when they failed to get the message at home!!!!!

When you beat your child yes it hurts but doing the right thing hurts some times!!!!!!

Children, and young adults today, think they can do anything they choose with no consequences. They not only end up dead or wards of the state, they also take vengence in some of the most heinous ways when they feel they are wronged.

What part of "What she did was wrong" didn't you read? At the same time, she had been abused herself. She had already been broken. Are we going to get angry at abuse victims for the results of being abused now?

Believe it or not, what you are doing is blaming an abuse victim for being abused. Her actions were wrong. I don't know how many times I have to say it before you stop yelling at me. But at the same time, you are picking and choosing which abuse victims to show compassion towards.

I wasn't expressly yelling at you, Zachski, your post pretty much just covered a lot of the things about that video that pissed me off, besides the obvious. I sincerely apologize that it came out like I was targeting you specifically. *bows*

One of the things included in that is people assuming that her being abused excuses what she did. It is true, to a point. I can see how she thought she was protecting her child. What it does not excuse is her behavior further in. Forcing her child to leave her own room, and agreeing, within the child's earshot, with her abuser, is not something I am willing to excuse, even considering that the mother was abused herself.

And I don't recall saying I didn't feel sorry for her, but if I did, it was because my sympathy for her was quickly overriden by disgust at the situation on the video.

Edit: as to no charges, I wish I could say I was surprised. I really do.
