Why would anyone spend $10,000 for a ring?

It's not unusual for people to spend $10,000 or more on an engagement ring. Some women consider that is part of the deal. Usually the guys who go in for that kind of get what they deserve.
Funnily enough a friend of mine spent substantially more than $10k on the engagement ring. Marriage didn't last (less than 2 years).
I did finally get my wife a diamond ring when we were in South Africa earlier this year. Much cheaper than in Oz.
Don't worry I made sure that it was a blood diamond and that at least 5 people had died so that my wife could have a well priced shiny thing.

That's stupid. I don't like the idea of spending $10k on a bloody wedding, let along a fucking ring.

If you satisfy a woman romantically and emotionally the material luxuries are a bonus but are not necessary.

Yeah, I know the price of the ring is insane, but still what amazes me the most is that he actually FOUND it...

Eh, the couple finding the winning lottery ticket in the dump was more amazing.

If you satisfy a woman romantically and emotionally the material luxuries are a bonus but are not necessary. Really? So how long has your long term relationship lasted?

Wouldn't it be ironic if it turned out that the $10,000 ring he found was actually someone else's and that his was still missing.
