That doesn't bother me half as much as Kevin being an anti-hero with completely different abilities, Gwen being half-alien, & this being the, what, 3rd timeskip with just as many new Big Bads in a series that's not even that old?
:V I don't religiously watch the show so I can't answer that.
Even Rusty, who loves the show, admits that those first two things are a big plothole of plotholiness.
As far as timeskip goes... well, it's better than the main character being 10 for ten seasons straight. *eyes Pokemon*
As I understand it, Kevin's change in powers and personality were eventually explained in Ultimate Alien as his alien race only being supposed to absorb matter, not energy. Absorbing energy drives them insane/evil and mutates them. It's still completely silly, but that's the reason.
The weirdest part in Pokémon is that Ash is still 10, even though years have distinctly passed in the series. Really, there is distinct dialogue where it's been a year since they were last in Pallet Town. Ash: Still 10.
There once was a unicorn who would shove His rainbows around like a dove "Always I'll be with you And then make-believe with you Harmony, Harmony, oh love"

All powers are explained by being alien half-breeds in the new series. It's ridiculous. Kevin is specifically an Osmosian. You know, because he absorbs things. Like osmosis.
One thing I do like in the sequel series is Professor Paradox. He is easily the best character, largely because he's pretty much a Doctor Who expy. I don't even watch Doctor Who and I appreciate there being a Doctor Who expy. Rath is also great because he's a pro wrestler parody. Voiced by John DiMaggio. Easily Ben's best transformation (to watch, not combat-wise).
