Un-be-freaking-lievable. The comments are bitching about bigotry for mocking them over the "small error." Listen, idiots, that's like calling Hawaii the fucking Solar System. It is not a "small error," & any "news" network that reports false but easily checkable significant details like that deserves to have its ass raked over the coals. The fact that it often happens to Fox isn't "bigotry."

If you think this is bad, prepare to headdesk: I've come across people who referred to the solar system as the universe. Mixing up a star system with a galaxy is still pretty sad, though.

I've heard metamorphosis given as a type of evolution. But it's different if you're an individual as opposed to a news network.

Besides, who can blame Fox News for making such an insignificant error about some sciency stuff when there are liberals to make shit up about?

And this is why major news corporations should be legally required to have accredited scientists to proof-read all their stories related to that particular field of science. Don't have a micro-biologist? Don't run that story, then. We don't need the public becoming even more misinformed.

All you do is create an industry which allows the Michael Behes of the world to further thrive.

Michael who? I'm too lazy to Google it so give me some idea. If he's some diploma mill hack reread what I typed.

No, Behe's a creationist with a legitimate Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania and a (presumably tenured) professorship at LeHigh University in the same state, which he's held for the last 26 years. He's authored papers and all that kind of thing, and is to all appearances a scientist of good standing. He's just, you know, completely, insanely wrong about the very essence of his field.

Dude was okay helping Ann Coulter write a book, so I'm not sure there's a limit to the lies and misinformation he'd be prepared to green-light.

This is it; I have had enough. Under ordinary circumstances, if they were to publicly retract the error, I wouldn't mind too much (that is, after all, standard journalistic practice) but since this is coming from Fox News, the network wherein everything said is a lie, and owned by a man who has a near-monopoly on American news, it only furthers the stereotype that Americans are stupid and scientifically-illiterate. It's this sort of behavior that makes the rest of the world think we're idiots. I hate Fox News so much. If I'm coming off as a Single-Issue Wonk here, it's because I am. Stupidity, especially by Americans, is one of the few things that can get me genuinely angry.
Who wants to start their own news network where this sort of shit does not fly? It's about fucking time.
