A church in Pike County, Kentucky has voted to ban interracial couples from being members, attending services, or participating in church activities because its members disapprove of interracial marriage. The pastor instigated this rule after one Stella Harville, while visiting her parents, tried to attend her former church with her fiance--who is from Zimbabwe.
I just... what? What the fuck? How the hell does this sound like a good idea? I knew racism was still alive and well in a good many places but I did think that it was at least taboo enough that people wouldn't openly bar people of other races (or interracial couples) from certain places or activities. Obviously I was wrong. Holy shit!!!!

While it is a sad state of affairs that something like this still is happening in the US, it by no means is surprising to me. I'm not in Kentucky, but I am in the south, and this type of attitude is, unfortunately, rather common. I would suspect that the only reason some small rural churches haven't banned interracial couples is because none of yet dared cross their threshold.
Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.--Steven Weinberg
Religion can never reform mankind because religion is slavery--Robert G. Ingersoll

The comments... oy vey, the comments...
Everybody says there is this RACE problem. Everybody says this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY white country and ONLY into white countries.
The Netherlands and Belgium are just as crowded as Japan or Taiwan, but nobody says Japan or Taiwan will solve this RACE problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.
