I take it your geometry textbook did not include anything remotely resembling, "A ray starts at one point, then goes on forever. In that sense, it is just like a Christian soul, which starts at the beginning of life, then goes on forever into an eternity with Jesus!" Most Catholic schools still use state textbooks. Protestant private schools use shit like A Beka*. No comparison, dude. * That geometry example is real. A Beka shoehorns religion into everything except primary-level health class, and most of the readers. I say "most" because there is a Primary Bible Reader, and yes, it is KJV. Ahh, A Beka. My mother forever fucked up my math by switching from Saxon, which is widely regarded as the best homeschool math text possible, to A Beka around the time I started High School/algebra. I used Saxon for one year, and my math skills improved from 2nd grade to 6th grade level. It truly is an astounding program. Why anyone would dismiss it for something else is a mystery.

I was raised most of my home schooled life with Saxon math. Your mother made a stupid decision switching from it. Which, of course, you already know, just re-affirming it. I'm good at math because of Saxon. Though granted, my skills have gotten rusty, so I should probably find something to refresh them.

That's not even a good idea to learn anything, from an objective standpoint. Seriously, just think for 5 seconds: You're trying to explain a subject to someone, & you keep abruptly switching to a completely different subject. By the time the person has figured out that you're talking about something completely different now & has started thinking about that, you've already gone back to the first thing.

Primary A Beka uses Saxon methods, but minus the part where you actually learn how to copy problems onto a separate sheet of paper.
