Any one care to place a small wager on how long it takes for his nonsencical ravings to resume?

I wonder if anyone who can tolerate a trip over to /b/ could ask the /b/tards for an animated GIF of Nostradamus getting vigorously corn-holed by Satan. ;D

My mind refused to parse that. Wasn't he just arrested?

I'm not sure if what we've seen is really him or just some troll. Is there any kind of official confirmation that he is free or any other information on the situation? My mind refused to parse that. Wasn't he just arrested? Not quite. He was apprehended by the authorities, but instead of arresting him, he was only involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation and treatment. I'm pretty ok with this, since he is clearly mentally unbalanced, and having meds and therapy may have helped him (or at least appeared to). That said, he should only be released once deemed safe to himself and others and unlikely to engage in further harassment or stalking. However, when people are committed for inpatient psychiatric treatment, it is usually "for X number of days" rather than "until they are most likely sufficiently better to safely function in society" (there is no way to know for sure, since recidivism rates for the mentally ill are generally all over the place). Usually the only time that people are indefinitely committed or have their release delayed is when they clearly pose an immediate threat to themselves or others. If DM doesn't show sufficient improvement, as appears to be the case if he is legitimately harassing people on the Internet again, then it should be back to the mental hospital for him, with an indefinite stay this time (though not necessarily a permanent one). Normally the idea of institutionalizing someone for trolling seems absurd to me—"being a douchebag" is not a diagnosable mental illness, though it can earn you an "inpatient stay" at your local prison if you take it far enough—but DM made himself shown offline, and very few trolls show the levels of sheer obsession, dedication, and general unhingedness as him.

The problem isn't so much the trolling as it is the threats. If he sticks to being an annoying dick from now on without telling everyone that they're going to die or extending the harassment to the point that he's disrupting people's lives, there's really no need to re-involve the authorities, even if it's clear that Mabus still has a boatload of issues.

You know it's bad and that something is going on when he makes hard-core dedicated trolls look like n00bs. As much as I dislike/hate him, I want him to get as much mental care as he needs, in part cause I don't want him posting crap everywhere (and having to clear up what he leaves here) and in part because I know being fucked in the head sucks.
