I'm currently watching some crap on the History channel called "The Nostradamus effect", I was expecting some light woo, and because therre's nothing else on I'm watching it.It is the worstpossible garbage. It is pure pandering to the Rapture Ready crowd, presenting their weird fringe cultish eschatology as established scientific fact. I have long wondered how these semi-literate gutter Baptists all seem to be jabbering off the same crib notes, I think I found out how. Thanks mass media. Doesn't even mention Nostradamus, by the way, though thats kind of a minor criticism, at this point.
Mostly I'm just venting. I'm sure this hysterical pseudo-religious scare mongering is profitable, but damn it, its the HISTORY channel, why aren't there any shows about armour?

I hated how pandering it got but there were a few episodes that were fun to watch. Of course any digging whatsoever disqualifies all of it so its one of those shows you watch like the fiction it is with the "pretend-real, found film" mindset. It does mention him, just not a lot - pretty much just the 2012 episode I think. And the "guess who Mabus might be" one. Trouble is it spawned a bunch of things like that "7 seals" special about the apocalypse.
...Of course being on History, it's fucking embarassing.
Solomon's 1st Law: Fortune and Happenstance share a complimentary property with each other. As Fortune increases, random negative acts of happenstance increase - and vice versa. 2nd Law: (1st law of higher ed.) the less likely you are to use something, the more likely it is your degree will require it at some point.
The worst part is, a lot of the stuff that really happened is way more interesting than the Nostredamus crap. An additional Modern Marvels rerun would be more exciting. Hel, videos of paint drying in the 1930s would be more exciting.
And Itachi, we already know who Mabus is. He's a troll in Montreal.
Nostredamus couldn't even predict his own past. Many of his "predictions" where made long after the event, taking advantage of the communications of the day. In his time the "Latest News" came after several weeks at best. Distant wars and natural events often not getting reported at all.

What is it with these niche cable stations that never stick to their niche?
THE WAY IT SHOULD BE:
MTV & VH-1: "Music Television" & "Video Hits 1" - Should be Music Videos & Music-Based shows!
CARTOON NETWORK: Cartoons! Animation! 2-D Stuff! Disney! Hanna Barbera! Whatever!
HISTORY CHANNEL: History Stuff! Classical Greece & Rome! Both World Wars! Iran-Contra Scandal! 911! The Civil War! The 100-Years War! Charlemange! American Revolution! HISTORY!
DISNEY CHANNEL: All Things Disney! Mickey Mouse & His Pals! Classic Disney Movies! Cinderella! Alladin! Mulan! Mickey Mouse Club! Herbie The Love Bug!
And so on....
Nobody's singing on The Real World! Nostradamus stuff isn't big history! Pop Tarts & Boy Bands are not Mickey Mouse & Peter Pan!
As much as I LOVE Ghost Adventures & Paranormal stuff in general.....WHY IS IT BEING SHOWN ON THE TRAVEL CHANNEL?. Well, at least the Travel Channel is still forcused on travel, even if there is some Ghost & Gluttony shows.
Hey Cable CEO/Producer Guys! Don't give me that babble about "ratings shares" & the "18-30 year old male demographic" (Which is stupid, why them? What about all the women, children & old men? Isn't throwing a WIDE NET good business?). You cater to a niche! STICK TO THE NICHE! Otherwise, it's redundant! What's the point in Niches if you're just gonna ALL BE THE SAME? We need normal humans running stuff not Idiot-Bots from Planet Zorkon-5 who care about "The Bottom Line" than common sense!
