I remember that aircraft carrier idea. it was proposed to be made of stuff called Pykrete which was apparently 14% sawdust and wood pulp and the rest was ice. Didn't the Mythbusters tested that? Yep. It worked, too, for a bit.

Didn't the Mythbusters tested that? Yep. It worked, too, for a bit. Part of the design for the pikrete carrier was a cooling system running all through the ship. Hence one of the major lack of supplies to build it, copper tubing.
